Salla has no direct connections by air or rail, but transport is available from Kuusamo domestic airport and Kemijärvi railway station. Kemijärvi is accessible by car-carrier train from Helsinki. You can easily visit Russia from the Salla border crossing point, provided you obtain a visa in advance.
