Tired hotel in lovely setting
We were aware that this lovely building was old, but it is very much in need of some attention. Unfortunately our room was very hot owing to the fact that the window sash was broken so it could not be opened. The bathroom was tiny, with nowhere to hang towels & the water drained so slowly from the shower tray that it became a foot bath & threatened to overflow onto the floor! The mattress on the bed had seen better days - we could feel the springs!

Lovely old building with comfortable room & pleasant restaurant. the breakfast menu was good but the service a little haphazard. It was an easy, pleasant walk into town.

Our Salisbury stopover.
The 15th century mill was perfect for us as a stopover as we returned to London. With a 15th century building and the reasonable room rates we understood that the accommodation would not be luxurious. We took the 20 minute walk to the Cathedral before we checked out, the views on the way were stunning. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely stay at The Old Mill
We arrived at the hotel on a Friday evening but there was still enough room to park. The setting is picturesque and we were greated with lots of smiles and adorable dogs. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the water which was not only a great view but perfect white noise for sleep. My husband and I had both dinner and breakfast here. Both very enjoyable. The next day we were also able to keep the car at the hotel while we explored the city on foot. Great place to stay!

very accommodating
Booked a single room for three nights whilst on business only to find my Wife decided to surprise me on my second night, so after asking the staff for an upgrade to a double and having no rooms available they very kindly gave us a zedbed to use. Very kind. Great pub, good beer and food rather nice too. Idyllic location.

A short break in Salisbury
Wonderful hotel location on the River Avon, but rushing water noise could be a concern for light sleepers. The room decor was a little tired. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly in the restuarant. The location is excellent - a 15 minute walk to the town centre across the water meadows, with wonderful views of the cathedral.

Small pub/hotel
This accommodation is in a lovely position beside the river and on the edge of the water meadow. It is an easy flat walk of about 15 mins to reach the centre of Salisbury.

Nice hotel overlooking river
Lovely comfortable huge bed but could be noisy as we were above the bar. Didn't bother us as we were there Tuesday to Friday but you could hear what people were saying. They did provide ear plugs too!!! Think could do with more sound proofing. Great walk into the city across the water meadows, with views of the Cathedral, took about 10 mins. Had tassimo coffee maker in the room too. Really nice touch.

Characterful hotel
Hotel is in a beautiful location with wonderful views of river & Cathedral. The building itself is full of character being a converted mill with water running through the restaurant. Staff extremely helpful at all times & room was lovely and cosy. Thought evening menu choice slightly limited but food on offer very good with excellent breakfast. A really nice place to stay.

The old mill is tired
Great location , beautiful location. Alas the building is feeling very tired and needs an overhaul. No head chef for the last 18 months shows in the very generic menu. Food was average at best. Assistant manager explained it was difficult to employ enough staff or even competant staff. For what you get the cost of the rooms is over inflated. Would feel comfortable paying £60 a night not £125.

Beautiful location, old facilities
Staff were really wonderful as I was by myself with an 11 week old. They helped me lug all my stuff up the 2 flights of stairs. The breakfast was good and the location really beautiful. The room and facilities were very old but that was to be expected. Still, will be time to upgrade the mattresses very soon.

Beauty and Friendliness vs bad mattress
The walk to this place on the Town Path is, simply, the most calming beauty of our 10 day trip to London and southwest towns, with a postcard landscape that included fields of sheep, colorful flowers, open meadows, lovely brooks with ducks and even a few swans, and the look of a calming pub inn at the end of the path. The staff were made up of young adults that blend friendliness with an authentic casual attitude that was simply refreshing. It would have been perfect, if not for the the "king size bed" simply being two thin TWIN mattresses covered by a single bed sheep, so while I didn't sleep all that well, I really loved this place.

Old Mill Hotel review
An easier walk into Salisbury than I expected. Downside - my room was at the front where the pub drinkers congregated due to warm weather so was noisy until late at night. Beautiful old mill and overlooked mill pond. Would stay there again.

Stay 6th June 2016
Nice quaint hotel, be aware it's a water mill so some rooms will have constant driving water below them, nice ye olde dining room and pub. Bedrooms standard, but lower than average bathroom and especially shower - those with lots of hair will need to spend longer on the shower. Nice pretty location with a great riverside walk into town, taking 10 minutes.

Great stay, again
They do need more staff as only one poor girl was on on the Monday morning and had to staff the reception as well as do the breakfast serving. They need to improve the beer selection. It looks like they are forced by Green King to mainly sell their (second rate) beers rather than the wonderful micro/smaller breweries that Hants/Dorset has to offer.

Beautiful Setting
This was our first visit to Salisbury & we were very impressed! Just a short walk from the centre & cathedral, the hotel was ideally placed & in such a beautiful setting (even despite the bad weather on the first day!). The staff were friendly & the room very comfortable, though it did get very hot at night so probably best not to keep the heating on for too long! The menu was quite limited for dining but very nice & worth the wait; they forgot our starter but once they realised, gave us some extra nibbles & were very apologetic. Really good customer service.

I'd come back!
Stayed for one night to attend a family event in Salisbury. Good experience and helpful staff! The setting is very beautiful with the water running underneath the building. The rooms are modern and spacious. The only tiny, tiny point is that the shower has very low water pressure. Note that there's space for a bike outside if you're a cyclist.

Unpretentious historic landmark
Historic building in a superb location that has somehow escaped the bland corporate makeover treatment. Millpond full of bird life. Views across the water meadows to the cathedral. Friendly staff. Nice laid back ambiance. Cosy pub with good beer and reasonably priced food. Doze off in a comfy bed to the sound of water rushing through the sluices below.

Oldie's away break
We came for a 4 day "break" ( Tues - Sat). The Old Mill was situated a 10-15 mins level walk into Salisbury city centre. Free parking was definitely a bonus. All the staff were unfailingly heplful and friendly. The only downside for us was that our room (no. 2) was directly over the pub bar, so no quiet early nights. This apart, both the hotel and Salisbury were quaint and lovely.

Beautiful and comfortable traditional building
Idyllic location and beautifully restored old mill with original features everywhere. Very comfortable rooms with tea/proper coffee machine (and biscuits!) over a lovely traditional pub with very good food. Really friendly staff and a great place for a quiet getaway (as long as you are OK with the gentle sound of cascading water from the mill leat under the ground floor and the quacking of ducks in the river).
