"We stayed at Casa do Cedro for two nights. The accommodation was excellent, breakfast was excellent and the views and swimming pool are breathtaking. Lots of free parking on the street. We were close to Monsanto by car which was our reason to visit the area. The town is quiet, in fact you don’t see people around. The only thing to remember is that depending on your travel date there may only be few options for lunch or dinner in the area."

Santa Eufémia Covilhã Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"It's very nice!"

Sport Hotel Gym + SPA

10/10 Excellent

"The room was very clean, modern with perfect air conditioning. There was a mini fridge where I kept yogurt and fruit. The lobby had snacks,a coffee machine with many choices and frozen meals which could be warmed up in the microwave downstairs. The included breakfast was out of this world. I will be returning and highly recommend this hotel."

Convento do Seixo Boutique Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Extremely clean property. Staff were extremely helpful from the moment we walked in. They get your bags, and load them to your room. Easy and quick check in. Complimentary drink before you get to the room. The place smelt like heaven. Not sure what that fragrance was going on in the building, but it was divine."

Vila Galé Collection Serra da Estrela Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Hotel is beautifully situated. Great view from our room! Staff are very attentive and helpful. Restaurant à la carte meals were excellent and one evening buffet was fairly good as well. Breakfasts were great. One wish is that there would have been a 24 hour lobby coffee bar to get early morning coffee (or a machine in the room). Staff in the breakfast room were very accommodating, but only available after 8am when the restaurant opened."

Casa de São Lourenço - Burel Panorama Hotel - Member of Relais & Châteaux.

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were excellent at the front desk, gave us a welcome drink and a full tour of the facilites. Restaurant staff could use some training and a better process for servicing the tables. Hotel is clean, quiet and secure. Pool area with sauna and Turkish bath is very nice."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Salgueiro?

The best area to stay in Salgueiro is generally within the town centre itself, particularly around the Praça da República.

This central square is the heart of Salgueiro, surrounded by several of the town's key amenities and a selection of local eateries. The main street, Avenida da Liberdade, branches off from here, offering easy access to shops and services. The area is quite compact and walkable, making it convenient for exploring on foot.

For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic Portuguese experience, staying near the Praça da República is ideal. You'll be able to enjoy leisurely strolls, dine at local restaurants, and experience the everyday rhythm of the town. The proximity to the Igreja Matriz de Salgueiro (Parish Church) also offers a touch of local history and architecture.

Solo travellers will also find the town centre a good fit. It provides easy access to local transport if you're planning day trips to the surrounding Serra da Estrela mountains or nearby villages.

When is the best time to go to Salgueiro?
