Grandmont Gites is a chameleon in years gone by. Originally a hostel, later a hotel, bar & brasserie and at one time even, a pumping station!. To this day Gite Les Arbres (a period French cottage) retains the charm and character of its heyday as the former bar & brasserie where locals and passersby congregated for chatting, drinking, eating and dancing. In fact, the original bar which still remains has been the resting place for many a French elbow of residents among us this very day. Designed across ground floor level Les Arbres sleeps 4-5 guests. A cosy long lounge from the entrance leads to the kitchen which is well equipped for everything you need to self-cater. In turn, this leads to a large dining area with both bedrooms leading off. The master bedroom leads to the private patio. The second bedroom has two single beds. You may also be interested in our other gite, Les Fleurs, which sleeps 4 guests and is ideal for couples sharing or a small family. Our facilities include: \- onsite free parking \- shared heated outdoor pool (chlorinated) open from July to September \- outdoor table tennis and trampoline \- winter rental from late September to early June Nearby is the medieval town of Ambazac with places to eat, shop and sightsee including the towns' charming 13th Century church - home to two of the regions' most precious relics. Limoges city is approx 25 mins drive, popular for its arts and crafts, theatres and museums, bars, eateries, boutiques etc. Lac Saint Pardoux is 15 mins drive and provides a beach-in-reach. Packed with all kinds of water sports and year round activities - it's a great place to keep the family entertained. It was the first time we'd been to that part of France. The gîte was lovely, well equipped and full of character. Our kids absolutely loved the pool and garden. They would have been happy with 7 days of swimming and table tennis. We did end up hanging out by the pool at some point every day. The area is very picturesque and there's plenty to see and do nearby, if you've got a car. We had a few trips to Lac Pardoux to go paddleboarding and swimming. Lovely roads for cycling as long as you don't mind a few hills. The owners were really friendly and went above and beyond. We felt really welcome and at home which allowed us to really relax. A savoir : le gite est au rez de chaussée (assez sombre) et un autre gite est au dessus de nous (on entend donc les bruits de pas et de voix). Cela ne nous a pas trop dérangé mais c'est important de le savoir. La terrasse du gite donne sur le parking du gite donc c'est dommage pour la vue. Le gite est bien décoré, vous avez des jeux pr les enfants, une cuisine bien équipée, la piscine et le jardin est très agréable, plein de jeux d'extérieur également. Louise et James sont très accueillants (serviables et discrets). Le gite est situé a 20 min du lac saint Pardoux qui offre plein d activités. ##### aurelie l. The accommodation had everything you could want and we were extremely comfortable. The kids loved the big garden and pool and we loved the peace and tranquility and the gorgeous scenery. The only downside was that you can hear everything that goes on in the apartment above, as there are only floorboards between you. We got used to it after a while but at first it was quite annoying. Nous souhaitions nous reposer et cela a été le cas, car ce gite est situé dans un hameau calme au milieu d'une zone boisée.propice à la randonnée. Louise a su conserver le caractère authentique de cette demeure en y intégrant la modernité; (petit hic cependant, une WIFI défaillante). La décoration et l'aménagement sont de bonne facture. La piscine chauffée est un plus. Louise et son mari sont courtois, discrets et réactifs à la moindre demande. Leur accueil est très chaleureux et sympathique. Nous avons loué les deux gîtes "les arbres et les fleurs", Louise et James sont super et tres soucieux du bien être de leur hôtes. L'espace piscine avec tres grand jardin est top ( partie de foot avec amis enfants ). Les gîtes sont propres avec beaucoup de charme.
