Despite being just a moment's stroll from the famous 2-mile stretch of beach and its best bars and restaurants, the house enjoys peace and quiet even on the busiest of Summer days. With views of the sand dunes from the sunny south-facing back garden and upstairs bedrooms, it really is a fabulous place to take a holiday. Since we come on holiday here ourselves, the house is very well equipped. Pretty much everything you might need has been thought of. In addition to the usual facilities that you might expect to find, you'll be in for a treat with original artworks, a whole wall of books in the living room (over 1,000 at the last count), a vintage Bang & Olufsen hifi system (with turntable and our record collection), a heap of board games, XBox360 (plus games) and loads of children's DVDs and movies to keep them entertained whilst you're enjoying a drink in the back garden - a total suntrap - watching the butterflies or the sun setting. The house is centrally heated throughout and enjoys a reliable superfast broadband connection through BT Infinity 2 at around 60 Mbps. Looney Dunes has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 4 adults and 2 children - one master bedroom with a double bed, another main bedroom arranged either as two singles or joined together as a king-size double and a kids' bedroom with 2 full-size bunk beds. The two south-facing bedrooms enjoy views of the sand dunes. In the spacious family bathroom (no bath) there is a spacious shower cubicle with power shower, much the best way to clean away all the fine sand that you bring back from the long day at the beach! There is plenty of room downstairs too. The house has a living room with French doors that open out fully onto a patio area with a lawn and flower beds beyond, plus floor-to-ceiling bookshelves along the entire length of one wall; a conservatory with dining table and chairs; a fully-equipped kitchen with separate larder; and a downstairs WC and porch area for storage. The gardens must be our favourite part of this property. The south-facing back garden is the proverbial stone's throw from the sand dunes and is made up of a patio area and a flat lawn surrounded by shrubs and flowers on three sides (and populated by many species of butterfly throughout the long summer days). The garden is fenced all around and is fully enclosed. A high privet hedge in the front garden provides privacy from the cul-de-sac (so no passing traffic) and creates a natural goal for any penalty shoot out! This garden is also very sunny and provides off-street parking for 2 cars (3 at a pinch). Here are the main details about the property: Enclosed entrance porch - for all your coats, shoes, wellies, buckets and spades... Hallway - with 3 under stairs cupboards; one converted into a larder with freezer and microwave; one containing an iron, ironing board, clothes horse, Miele vacuum cleaner; and one crammed full of kid's toys, masses of Lego, etc... Downstairs WC Living Room - 3-seater sofa; armchair; rocking chair; original artworks; floor-to-ceiling bookshelves along the entire length of one wall with over 1,000 books; Xbox 360 with games; loads of adult and kids' DVDs; board games; 1970's B&O hifi system (turntable/tuner/amplifier) with smartphone connections that allow you to play your own music through our vintage floorstanding speakers; French doors that open out fully onto the patio area of the back garden... Galley Kitchen - fridge, freezer, electric cooker with hob, grill and oven, extractor fan, washer dryer, plenty of cupboards, toaster, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, milk frother, plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware, plus food basics (herbs, spices, condiments, etc)... Door to: Conservatory - with dining table and chairs, highchair (on request), blinds, door to back garden... Back Garden - south-facing and a real sun trap, with views of the tops of the sand dunes, totally enclosed, secure, safe, an oasis of peace and quiet even on the busiest of Summer days; outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining; barbecue; sunloungers to help top up the tan; a shed full of beach paraphernalia like boules, buckets and spades, etc; and an outside tap too... Stairs to: Landing - with airing cupboard (the property is centrally heated and so is warm and cosy in the winter months too), stairgate (if required)... Bedroom 1 - double bed with sumptuous sprung mattress; wardrobe with full-length mirror; bedside tables with lamps; room for a cot (a travel cot is available on request, meaning that the house can comfortably sleep 4 adults, 2 children and a baby)... Bedroom 2 - orthopaedic, adjustable, divan beds can either be arranged as 2 singles or fixed together as a kingsize double; wardrobe with full-length mirror; bedside tables with lamps; large window with wooden blinds and views to the dunes... Da Chris und Jenny das Haus auch selber für Urlaube nutzen, fehlt es wirklich an nichts. Eigentlich bräuchte man nur einen Rucksack mit ein paar Klamotten mitbringen, wenn da nicht immer noch der ganze Platz im Auto wäre. :) Alles sehr sauber und in sehr guten Zustand. Zum Strand sind es nur wenige Minuten. Man hat sogar den Vorteil einen Strandaufgang zu nutzen, an dem kaum Parkplätze sind. Dadurch ist hier auch weniger los. Wir haben auch viele Tipps für Erkundungen in der Gegend bekommen. Gerade Hastings, Rye und natürlich London sind sehr sehenswert. Wenn das Regenwetter doch mal zuschlägt, kommt im Haus sicher keine Langeweile auf. Es ist genügend Unterhaltung vorhanden. "Looney Dunes" is lovely property and was perfect for our weekend break at Camber Sands. My little four year old loved the games in the living room and the books in the kids bedroom were a lovely touch. The property is in a fantastic location right by the beach and we had some great food at the local cafes/restaurants that were also just a short stroll away. It has everything you need for your family. It’s the prefect little simple beach retreat near the wonderful Camber sands only minutes away! Couldn’t recommend it more. The beach stuff for the kids and beach towels were brilliant and helpful, the honesty “I forgot something” at the supermarket cupboard is a brilliant idea. Chris was very communicative from the outset and went out of his way to make sure we had all the provisions and information we needed from the outset. After a slight oversight (on our part) around check in times he and his housekeeper were very accommodating and understanding. The house was perfect as a little bolthole for enjoying the Bank Holiday break for our family of 5 and 2 x dogs. Everything was pristine, the welcome pack was delicious and a lovely personal touch with home-baked goodies and it was perfectly located within a stones throw of shops, eateries, a park and of course the dunes and beach. We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Chris & Jenny en kregen alle uitleg die we nodig hadden. Het huis was op alles voorzien (bedankt voor het welkomspakket!) en voor de kinderen was het ook fantastisch om alles te ontdekken (Lego, Thomas de trein-set, buitenspeelgoed, strandspeeltjes, dvd's,...). Alle kamers zijn smaakvol en gezellig ingericht. In de keuken is alles aanwezig wat we nodig hadden. Een goeie uitvalsbasis om de regio te ontdekken én ideaal gelegen om na een daguitstap nog af te koelen in de zee of een zandkasteel te maken in de prachtige duinen. Wir wurden herzlich von den Vermietern empfangen und haben uns in der Unterkunft gleich wohl gefühlt. Das Ferienhaus ist genauso wie beschrieben und damit für Familien besonders geeignet. The house is immaculate, clean and has everything you could want, including a well stocked honesty larder, fully equipped kitchen, fab sound system and hundreds of books to while away a lazy afternoon. The dog basket and bowl were much appreciated by our dog who loved tearing around the secure back garden. We all would whole-heartedly recommend Looney Dunes and hope to return soon. Chris hat uns sehr herzlich begrüsst und sogar das Haus in eine weihnachtliche Stimmung versetzt (Weihnachtsbaum). Das Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und super gelegen. Besonders für unseren Hund war der Urlaub am Strand (im Winter kann der ganze Strand von Hunden besucht werden) einfach das Beste. Der Garten und der Wintergarten sind perfekt für uns gewesen (z.b. auch die Möglichkeit unseren Hund draußen abzuspülen). Bis auf die Silvesternacht war es auch angenehm ruhig. Das Haus hat alles was man braucht und der Supermarkt in Rye lässt keine Wünsche offen. Die Möglichkeiten in der Nähe spazieren zu gehen und Südengland zu entdecken sind fast grenzenlos. Die Leute, die man in den Pubs trifft sind sehr freundlich und man kommt schnell ins Gespräch (The Owl). Einzig das Restaurant The Gallivant kann ich für den Preis nicht wirklich empfehlen. Dafür rate ich aber zu einem Besuch auf der Salts Farm auf dem Weg nach Rye. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Urlaub und wir würden gern einmal wiederkommen. ##### Christian S. My grandsons were particularly impressed there was an X Box which of course they played during our stay. They also loved the selection of dvds, and the older ones of us found ourselves reminiscing with some of the LP's! Then, if that wasn't enough, there were the many books to go through, that's if we had the time! Went to the beach, boys loved the beach board, badminton set and boules, all of which kept them busy. Luna felt very at home in the dog bed provided and settled in almost immediately. Lovely touches were the home made jam and chocolate cookies which made us feel at home. Our every need was catered for down to the beach towels, and nothing was too much trouble. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely holiday property and hope to come back ourselves in the not too distant future! We appreciated the peaceful yet convenient location. On arrival we were greeted by Chris who showed us around the house and pointed out where everything was situated in the home. Chris has been extremely friendly and helpful before, during and after our stay at Looney Dunes, nothing is too much trouble. I have to add that Chris’s attentiveness is NOT in any way intrusive. The house is beautifully furnished and is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. My grandson even borrowed a bucket and spade, bats and ball and a sand scooter for the beach. We also enjoyed playing pool and swingball in the garden. When I say this house has every requirement for a brilliant holiday I really mean everything. There was a fabulous welcome pack of groceries, including homemade bread, jam and cookies, which were delicious and much more. The honesty cupboard is a fab idea as you have no need to worry if you forget anything. All ages are certainly very well catered for, from small children to oldies, like ourselves. You can even bring along your four legged friend if you so wish. (with owner’s approval). If you like a beach holiday close to amenities then I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Looney Dunes, Camber. It is close to Rye, less than 10 minutes by car. It is also quite easy to visit other places in the South East, we particularly enjoyed visiting Canterbury. The house is extremly well kept, spacious, with loads of toys inside and out, and everything you might need in the kitchen etc. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Wir (2 Erwachsene, 4 Kinder im Alter von 11,10,7 und5) haben zwei wunderschöne Wochen in Camber verbracht. Der Strand ist nur wenige Minuten vom Haus entfernt und gerade auch für kleinere Kinder perfekt, da der Wasserstand auch bei Flut niedrig ist. Man kann herrlich planschen. Chris empfing uns fröhlich und freundlich, so daß dies das sofortige Wohlfühlen noch leichter machte. Das Haus ist sauber, hell und lädt zum Verweilen im freundlichen Wintergarten, auf der schönen Terrasse und im Wohnzimmer ein, welches mit vielen Büchern, Spielen, Filmen und sogar Schallplatten ausgestattet ist. Nahe gelegen ist "Owl", ein netter Pub, in dem man auch lecker Essen kann. Unbedingt zu empfehlen ist "Khanˋz", wenn man indisches Essen mag. Im Farmshop gibt es leckere regionale Produkte. Der Strand ist schnell zu erreichen, auch die Hundestrände. Es ist gut gelegen, um schöne Tagesausflüge nach Hastings, Rye, Bodiam Castle usw. zu unternhehmen.
