We stayed at this property from Aug 2 to Aug 6, 2022. Our party consisted of my husband and me, another couple, and three teenage boys. We had ample space for everyone. This house is in a very convenient location, a short drive to St. Michael’s and a short ferry ride to Oxford, both charming towns to explore, with options for dining, museums, and other activities. The teens did a day trip to Ocean City. The adults went on the Patriot boat tour in St. Michael’s, which was nice. I love to kayak, so my husband and I trekked to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, about 50 minutes away, and paddled on their Green Paddle Trail. On a different day, I started a kayak trip right off the shore in front of the house. My route: Turn left (north) and paddle along the shore until you come to a duck blind. Veer slightly left to enter Tar Creek. You can paddle to its end and see plenty of bald eagles. Continue paddling in and out of the coves of Tar Creek and Plaindealing Creek further north. The water is calm, and although you’re not truly in a wild area, the shoreline gives that impression in places. I saw lots of small birds and herons.
Do be aware that swimming from the shore is not always possible depending on the jellyfish. Some days we saw a lot and some days very few. I wish we had brought fishing equipment to fish off the dock.
Our favorite thing to do was chill out in the gazebo each night. Overall, this lovely property served our needs well and I would recommend it.
