Hello Margaret,We did speak about this and I didn’t think we were going to have this review, but there you go.The wording on Expedia site is what we did do before Covid.For the time being we have had to make adjustments and close from 2.30pm till 5pm.We were wrong in not changing the wording and requesting you to check in at the Victoria Hotel, when you called we should have attended and checked you in at the Esplanade.Our rooms are always supplied with toiletries, water, biscuits, tea, coffee etc. and you surprise me with this comment. Why did you not mention to staff at the time?Next the bathroom light! Housekeeping advise me that it was working, so sounds as if it packed in as they do from time to time.Now breakfast! We serve from 7.30am till 9.30am and it is your choice. Perhaps reception was indicating busy & less busy.Now what about the drunk & the noisy that we all experience from time to time. It is not a regular experience but I would be pleased to hear the remedy.I am really please that you found the staff as lovely and I would have been really really pleased to hear the food was superb, the hotel was spotless, the bed was comfortable, the price was reasonable. Even to describe it as old fashioned would have brought a smile.Have a good day and hope to see you again.

Hello Anthony,And thank you for your short review which goes straight to the point.The room you booked was a twin room with television, Wi-Fi, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. The shower and WC was beside the room.The room was front facing with a view of the harbour and across Rothesay Bay. As with all rooms the standard of cleaning was high. The rate charged included an excellent breakfast for two. We charged 80.00 per night (which included VAT) for a weekend stay.The Esplanade is not a luxury hotel but it is good value for money in our opinion.P.S. The Esplanade also has an excellent licensed restaurant which is mostly always full

Paul Your review comes as a bit of a surprise! Generally we don't have many problems so we assume it was a very cold night. The Esplanade is basic, clean accommodation and our room rates reflect this. The windows are not double glazed however where there is a problem, we can add additional heating and bed covers if requested. Yes, in the winter we do serve breakfast at 9am however if requested we can offer a packed lunch or breakfast in our other hotel which commences at 7.30am or earlier if you only want cereal, yoghurt, fruit, tea/coffee and toast. With regard to evening meal, we may finish early in the winter when it is a quiet night although we offer dinner in both of our hotels and generally the time for last orders would be 20.30. Hello Derek, thanks for your feedback. The Esplanade is what it is. A basic clean accommodation offering good food and wifi all very reasonable priced. I am a little surprised at your breakfast comment. We have an excellent reputation for food, did the chef possibly have an off day? . During the winter the rooms will see a little upgrade. Yes, we do not have a dedicated reception and guests have to go to the restaurant/bar to check in. Yes we do have en suite but not in all rooms. We offer clean accommodation with a good comfortable bed, television, free WiFi, excellent food from our extensive menu and a well stocked bar. In reality we are a very popular restaurant/bar with rooms. We don't claim to be a luxury hotel and our pricing reflects the deal.
