Roermond is a city in the province of Limburg and a great place for a family holiday.
Roermond is a city with a rich history that dates all the way back to the Middle Ages. You will keep running into churches, castles and other monuments. Start your tour of the city at the Beggardenklooster, where you can see the remains of the monastery chapel with cross vaults. In the 19th century, the monastery was designated as a residence and is currently an office. The Caroluskapel is a late Gothic chapel from the 14th century and is unique in that it is one of the few churches with a Rococo ceiling. It also has a gorgeous Louvigny organ from 1853. You should also plan some time for the Cattentoren. This building is part of the mediaeval city wall around Roermond and is shrouded in mystery. Not even extensive research has been able to shed light on its enigmatic past.
