About this property
Albegna: stylish nature house with garden and view
Rated 9.9/10 by guests in 2026
Our holiday apartment Albegna is located at an altitude of 700 metres in the hills of the Maremma, in the south of Tuscany.
Albegna is one of three one-bedroom holiday cottages at Podere Sant'Angelo — a small, family-run property in the hills of southern Tuscany. The other cottages, Capitorio and Zolferate, share the same peaceful setting and are available to book separately.
This charming nature house combines modern comforts with traditional Tuscan style. The high ceilings, terracotta floors, and large windows create a bright, airy atmosphere. The characteristic brick kitchen with a natural stone sink and modern appliances invites you to prepare local dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Ideal for couples and small families who appreciate peace, nature, and the outdoors.
From the apartment, you can take beautiful walks directly from Podere Sant'Angelo, or explore the surrounding hills by e-bike (e-bikes are available for rent in Roccalbegna). French doors lead directly to your private garden with sun loungers and views over the Albegna Valley.
Under the spacious, covered 21m² veranda, you can enjoy a good glass of wine, a cozy meal, or a barbecue on the Weber grill as the sun slowly sinks behind the hills. In the evening, the view is enchanting: the silence of the countryside and a starry sky make this a place to truly unwind. The well-maintained Mediterranean garden at Podere Sant'Angelo, with its lavender, rosemary, and old roses, enhances the sense of space, tranquility, and nature.
Visit from Albegna
the baths of Saturnia
the Etruscan villages of Pitigliano, Sovana and Sorano
the UNESCO landscapes of the Val d'Orcia
the medieval towns of Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano
the undiscovered beaches of the Parco Maremma.
Albegna is suitable for two adults (plus one child up to 12 years old). A cot and high chair are available for children.
Your host lives on site and will personally welcome you in English. He's also happy to give you tips on hiking trails, restaurants, and local producers.
Good to know: Podere Sant'Angelo is located off the main road network. You reach the holiday home after about three kilometers via a well-maintained strada bianca (an unpaved country road), typical of the Tuscan landscape – a guarantee of peace, privacy, and authentic charm.

This property is everything we had hoped it would be . It provides comfort, tranquility, great scenery, very enjoyable local osterias and trattorias, short drive away. Graham was a very friendly and engaging host, offering great information about the region and all it has to offer. We hope to return next summer.
L'appartamento era veramente pulito, confortevole e ben fornito.

Delightful host, delightful place
The property we stayed in was excellent value for money: clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. The views from the house were beautiful and the garden well tended. The owner was extremely welcoming and helpful with regards to the house itself and visiting the surrounding areas of interest. Although the location was off the beaten track, the advantages of being immersed in an area of such outstanding beauty more than made up for this.
Recommended restaurants: La Foce, for exquisitely cooked fresh fish; La Grotta, for a delicious plate of locally produced cheeses and meats.

Wonderful week with stunning sunsets
Our apartment was very clean and well organised with a beautiful porticato and stunning views across the valley. Graham was there to greet us and gave us some fantastic suggestions of places to eat and interesting days out. We particularly enjoyed Niki de Saint Phalle's Tarot Garden. We also saw some impressive shooting stars. Overall, we had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend to anyone seeking a relaxing holiday in the Tuscan countryside.

This is a wonderful spot. If you want a quiet, secluded place, devoid of tourists; fabulous vistas, great walks, quick rides to the charming hilltop towns - look no further.

Wonderful relaxing week in stunning location
After a long drive, we were warmly welcomed by Graham, the owner who did everything he could to make our stay memorable. Our apartment was newly restored in the old Tuscan style. Extremely comfortable, especially the bed! Days spent touring unspoilt countryside and ancient villages or walking near the apartment, evenings spent sitting with a glass of wine on the terrace in the glorious garden and watching the sun go down over the mountains. Great restaurants nearby - try the fried courgette flowers! A wonderful, restorative week.

Lovely villa in a quiet part of Tuscany
We had a really lovely few days in Albegna, despite this year's rather unseasonal weather. The apartment is newly and very tastefully converted to provide spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation for two. Graham is the perfect host, very knowledgeable about the local area, helpful without being intrusive if you want to be left to your own devices. Roccalbegna, a short drive or a longer walk away (if it's not too hot) has a good restaurant, a couple of small shops and an excellent butcher. Larger towns nearby have supermarkets - you could do like we did and stock up on the drive in. It's quite a way to the major sites, but Arezzo and Orvieto are 3 star sites within a 2 hour drive and the coast near Grosseto is beautiful (Graham can recommend the best spots). Or you could just sit on the patio, catch up on your holiday reading, soak up the beautiful scenery and let nature come to you (don't forget to pack your binoculars).

A paradise of tranquility - only sound of birds
Highly recommendable ! The Albegna-appartment is very well equipped and recently restored . A large bedroom and excellent terras with a view on the surrounding hills ! The owner is a charming host, eager to make you at ease !
Only (once more) a tip: put a sign of the Podero at the road - for we missed the entrance. The "unmade road" to reach the location is a challenge - but not really a problem !

Graham's gorgeous Tuscan holiday aprtments
Graham's gorgeous holiday apartments restored in traditional Tuscan style and beautifully furnished are in the heart of the Maremma (area of Tuscany) surrounded by breathtaking scenery. I went on lovely gorse-scented walks roundabout, trying to spot the local wildlife - deer, eagles, porcupines then sat on the terrace watching the sun go down over the hills. 12th-century villages, vineyards and hot springs a short drive away.
Extememly restorative. The only drawback was the bed was so comfortable that I slept too long in the morning!

Lovely accommodation in a very beautiful area.
Our early spring stay in 'Albegna' at Podere Sant'Angelo is sadly already over. Albegna is beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. The tuscan style kitchen is very well equipped and the bathroom is pristine with a gorgeous shower. Now back at home I remember sitting on the 'porticato' with a glass of Montecucco wine watching the sun set - true bliss!
Even in early spring the lovely garden was full of flowers and aromatic herbs. There are wonderful views of the valley from Monte Labbro down to the sea and the Argentario peninsular. We saw a huge eagle fly along the valley almost every day.
The owner, Graham, is very helpful and friendly and gave us lots of tips on what to do and places to eat.
We're already looking forward to another visit to this beautiful unspoilt part of Tuscany.
