This was our first time staying at a boutique hotel. We did some research beforehand, and Ola Boutique seemed like a good place to stay. We liked the idea of a small, intimate hotel geared toward experienced travelers. However, before I get into the review, let me share a little background. On our last vacation, we stayed at Hotel Artimide, so I admit that we may be a bit spoiled when it comes to accommodations and the overall vacation experience. Ola Boutique is a small hotel that appears to be relatively new to the hospitality business. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. First, the so-called “free breakfast” was a joke. There were opened jars of jam and peanut butter shared among guests, with serving spoons sticking out of them for everyone to touch. The food was cold or at room temperature, including the milk provided for coffee. If you wanted anything warm, you had to pay extra. Honestly, this was not the kind of breakfast experience we expected. Now, let's move on to the rooms. The room was small, with no table or chairs, very limited electrical outlets (just two—one by the bed and another by the microwave), and no outlets in the bathroom. The lack of basic conveniences made the room feel rather impractical. The bathroom, however, was the biggest concern. The smooth, tiled floor became wet because water sprayed all over it, creating a potential slipping hazard. To make matters worse, the shower controls were broken.

This precious property is located directly on the river and you can hear the waterfalls from the bedroom windows! The sweet sounds of the coquis are like lullabies after a day exploring this treasure. Will stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lazy Parrot! From the exceptional staff to the breathtaking views, this hotel was a wonderful experience. Our room was incredibly spacious, with an abundance of storage, including a large closet and drawers throughout. Best of all, we had a private balcony overlooking both the mountains and the ocean. The views were simply spectacular! The property was beautifully maintained, and we constantly noticed staff cleaning and caring for the premises. Their attention to cleanliness and the overall guest experience really stood out. Free parking and an on-site restaurant were added conveniences. If I had to mention any drawbacks, it would be that the pool bar was closed due to staffing shortages, and the Jacuzzi water never got hot. Both were minor disappointments compared to everything else the hotel had to offer. Overall, a fantastic experience with exceptional hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable accommodations. We would absolutely stay here again!
