Welcome to Criterion Cottage — a beautifully restored 1856 settlers cottage, full of character and charm, perfectly positioned just behind the historic Criterion Hotel on Bagot Street.

Please note:
• Pet friendly – inside pets allowed
• No Wi-Fi available at the property
• Wood is supplied only from 1 June to 30 September. Outside of these months, wood can be purchased locally from Robe Hardware (Mitre 10) or Robe Auto & Marine at the guest’s expense

Blending original heritage features with modern comforts, Criterion Cottage offers a warm and inviting atmosphere in an exceptional location. From here, you are just a short stroll to Robe’s town beach, boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants, hotels, and the local golf course.

The cottage provides a cosy living area with an open fireplace, rich in character, flowing seamlessly onto a paved courtyard complete with BBQ facilities — perfect for relaxed outdoor dining and entertaining. There are also glimpses of beautiful Guichen Bay from the property.

Accommodation includes 2 bedrooms, with a queen bed upstairs and two single beds downstairs, making it ideal for couples or a small family. The home also features a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom located on the ground floor.

Important Information:
• No booking will be accepted without a completed guest list and required details
• Credit card details are required for bond security

Pet Information:
Guests bringing pets are responsible for ensuring their dog is appropriately restrained within the enclosed yard. While the property is pet friendly, fencing suitability cannot be guaranteed for all animals.

Linen Information:
Bathroom and bedroom linen is supplied for all stays; however, only the required amount is provided based on guest numbers supplied at booking. If you would like beds professionally made prior to arrival, please request bed-making at the time of booking ($15.00 per bed). Guests are responsible for advising the office of any special bedding configurations required. If no requests are made, bedding arrangements will be assumed based on guest numbers provided. Please remember to bring your own beach towels.

Great location. Close to Main Street walk to everything close at hand. House is very hot could do with a couple of shade sails in little court yard which we used , or a split system. A well equipped kitchen , overall a pleasant place to stay.

We could swim, wander down the street and see all that Robe has to offer. Our dog also had access to the courtyard. The sparkling weather was beautiful. Already trying to rebook!

Small courtyard needs attention. Was annoyed to pay a cleaning fee of $160 but had to make our own beds and found the house was not as clean as I thought it should be.

Sofas and beds are comfortable and it was such a relief to know we had electric blankets should we need them. The Mediterranean-style living area is light-filled and adorned with tasteful original artworks (a real bonus!). Together they set the scene for a real holiday. Location is brilliant with shops, beachfront and cafés an easy walk away. Love it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Charming cottage in the best location in Robe. We have been visiting this cottage since the 1980’s and love it here. The changes we noticed this year.. the beds are no longer made on arrival and only the exact number of sheets of sheets are left out. I would prefer that the beds were made up. Also, we were only left one roll of toilet paper and no rubbish bags for the bins. The last time I stayed here the owner was self managing and we always felt like we were staying in a home away from home, so I wonder if these changes are by the real estate agent. The guest book has been removed and the folder with the history of the property is gone. In the downstairs bedroom we found lolly wrappers and dust. Think they need to upgrade the cleaner. Gas bbq bottle was not full so we chose not to replace it at our own expense and did not want to carry such a huge bottle.This is a boutique property and it would be good if these little touches were fixed. So many instructions on the fridge, but no mention of the water bottle in the kitchen, which can be refilled from the rainwater tank in Cornerstone Cottage (same owners).Delightful cottage but not reaching its full potential in my opinion.

Great location

Property was in a great location. Bed was comfortable. Be aware that main bedroom is up a steep stairwell (with narrow treads) and bathroom is downstairs. Property was clean but requires some extra attention to shower screen and Items in the Kitchen (we had to wash crockery before using). Unfortunately there was also a mouse problem (which they were dealing with) so we did have a smell throughout our stay. (just opened doors and windows when home)

Quaint cottage

Overall I enjoyed my stay but was slightly disappointed. The cottage was relatively clean but small things need to also be concentrated on. The BBQ had not been cleaned , therefore no BBQing for us. Oven tray, pot and pans needed a scrub before I could use them. Dusty fan in upstairs bedroom, not been cleaned for a while.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 6th summer holiday staying in Criterion Cottage! It is unique with the main bedroom upstairs & another downstairs. The bathroom is perfect, washing machine close by, a very functional kitchen, dining area plus two living areas. An open fire is a great winter attraction & in the small courtyard there’s a Weber barbecue for self catering. We love the history, the comfortable accommodation & location to the Main Street, the front beach & marina. The cottage was very clean & nicely presented with great Art work everywhere. Sheets & towels are provided & for a small fee the beds can be made up for you.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Criterion Cottage for 4 nights. Upon arrival, we contacted the property management to come and conduct a more thorough clean of the bedrooms as they were unsuitable to stay in (built up dust alongside/under beds, cobwebs in opening windows and doors, dusty bedframes/lamps/surfaces). Someone came very swiftly and spent some time rectifying the main issues, however it was still a dirty house that needs a much more thorough clean. The cleaner even mentioned that she had done what she could in the time she had, but hadn't managed to get everything. I don't think we would stay here again, despite it being a very cute and character filled apartment. A very deep clean is overdue and would have made the experience much more enjoyable.
