The best area to stay in Robbehoek is within the private conservancies bordering the Addo Elephant National Park.

These conservancies offer an exclusive safari experience, often featuring luxurious lodges located within pristine wilderness. They provide a more secluded and personalised wildlife viewing experience compared to the public sections of the park, with guides offering insights into the local flora and fauna. Many lodges are situated along the Sundays River, offering scenic views and additional activities like river cruises.

Couples looking for a romantic and intimate getaway will find these conservancies ideal. The lodges typically offer private plunge pools, fine dining, and guided game drives, creating a luxurious and memorable experience. You'll often have opportunities for sundowners in the bush and stargazing away from city lights.

Families travelling with older children will also appreciate the conservancies for their curated activities and comfortable accommodation. Lodges often provide dedicated family suites and can arrange child-friendly safari experiences, ensuring everyone enjoys the wildlife encounters in a relaxed and engaging way.

The best time to go to Robbehoek is during the dry season, which runs from May to October, offering pleasant weather for exploring.

During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like wildlife viewing and hiking. The cooler, drier conditions also mean that vegetation is less dense, improving visibility for spotting animals. This period is particularly good for families looking to enjoy nature without the intense heat or humidity.

For those interested in whale watching, the peak season is from June to November, when Southern Right Whales migrate to the coastline. Staying in Robbehoek during this time means you're perfectly positioned for boat trips or land-based viewing points, offering an incredible experience for nature enthusiasts.
