I had to replace room keys twice as they won't open the door, finally, I was changed to another bedroom. Staff looked like overwhelmed. I paid for breakfast at the restaurant, it was not bad, but expensive for the quality and variety of food.

Terrible experience very old hotel with very rude people hotel horrível velho cheio de ferrugem e mofo, difícil falar se o pior foi o hotel ou os funcionários, pareciam que estavam fazendo um favor um local para nunca mais ir reservei 5 dias fiquei um horrível e ainda nao e família friendly fiz a reserva p mim minha esposa e meu filho mandaram meu filho dormir no chao pq n tinha cama ai deram um lencol e um travesseiro

I checking 8:00 PM on Saturday . Expedia didn’t sent anything to the hotel with my payment and the receptionist was ask me about my email confirmation. I wasn’t suposse to confirm that . The Expedia supposed to sent my reservation to them. The guy was rude with me. He sad if I’m not showing the reservation i ll be charging at my credit card the full amount... he went to my door and said that. I never had problems like that to checking at hotel’s. Any way...

Royalty Barra Stay
The Hotel is in a Nice quiet area, the Beach does not get very crowded, the Balcony Ocean Views are great. The Hotel does not have in room coffee makers, They do not have in room nor do they have Ironing Boards and Irons. There are a lot of local food places one short walking block away.

We we greated with the absurb parking value of 100 reais per day. To leave baggage also 10 reais. Front desk reception was poor as they looked irritated. Room was ok with good view. Breakfast needed more options for class of hotel.

Great location, great surf.
The hotel was in a great location with miles of awesome beachfront. We came primarily to be near to surf breaks in Barra but also experience some good nightlife and local food. It was out of the hustle and bustle of Central Rio but close enough to access the all the good tourist spots.

Room was not deeply clean, breakfast was poor. Again, this would be acceptable only in a 50 or less use per night hotel, not something so expensive.

Nice hotel....But
Couple of things. No rewards program. Second. No free internet. They charge you a hour rate or a day rate of 30 reals. And last, they are doing construction and renovating rooms. So you if you want a new renovated room you need to be higher ....And you don't want to hear the construction.

Sights and location close to business meeting.
The hotel's location was great; next to restaurants, and right on the beach. The service of the staff was good, but at check-in, the front desk could not find my reservation so I waited 30 mins. The room was comfortable, but the shower had mold, and my dirty towels were not replaced the next day by the housekeeping staff. Breakfast was good, but I was unable to remove coffee from the breakfast room. Listen....I'm paying $250 a night for a room with mold and re-used towels, I'd better get to take my coffee anywhere I want in this hotel. The pool and workout rooms were better than I had expected.

Convenient for business in the Barra
Hotel staff was courteous and attentive when needed. Hotel is in a safe area and the surroundings are relaxing. Ocean front rooms have a nice view. Hotel air conditioning in common areas was either turned off or not working making for a very hot and humid experience in the lobby and hallways. This is not acceptable for a Fifa approved hotel. Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection of fruits, breads, cakes, as well as eggs and sausage.

Air conditioning in public areas of the hotel was not working and the lobby area, halls, and other areas of circulation were very hot and humid. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average for Brazil.

It's great view from the hotel. Room was big and clean. My partner and I had a king bed room. But it is a bit far from Copacabana beach. About 12 km and taxi cost around R$30-40. Do not use hotel's own transport. They charge R$60 to Copacabana. Yellow taxi is available right outside the hotel and it is much cheaper. Breakfast is great.

EXTREMELY RUDE FRONT DESK PEOPLE!!
Our check-in time was 2 PM and we arrived around 1PM due to our flight schedule. We anticipated the wait for the check in time and were perfectly fine with it. There were 3 guys at the front desk and we were simply told after we gave them our reservation name that "you have to wait till 3 PM". After waiting for about an hour at the lobby and witnessing every person who came in after us get a room, I decided to ask about our reservation . Once again, in a very rude manner, i was told by the guy at the front desk "you have to wait till 3 PM". I showed him that our check-in time was 2 PM and not 3 PM, according to our reservation and he said the same thing again with a bigger attitude (I guess that was the limit of his English vocabulary). The gentleman was so rude that while "talking at me" another employee said something and he turned his back to me to speak to his colleague. At that point another guy at the front desk took over and we had a room within 5 minutes (go figure!!). Our experience at the hotel went from bad to worse and all related to service, from having us and other guests walk thru the garage entrance and use the service elevator (there is no pedestrian service entrance) after a walk on the beach. The location of the hotel is OK, however, in all of my travels for business or pleasure, i have never encountered such a lack of customer service, specially in a hotel in a beautiful place like Rio. The bed in my room was terrible. The mattress was broken and uncomfortable. I requested another room or to replace the mattress but no one seemed to care about. That was the lowest point of the hotel. On the other hand, the shower was excellent.

Difficult for Business
I was there for 9 days so I got a good feel for the hotel. They could not get the internet to work via WiFi for my room. I ended up having to set up downstairs every night and do my work and business e-mails from the lobby. I also had a light out in the bathroom that took 3 days to repair.

Not a good experience during my last business trip to Brasil. Internet didn't work, many people complaining and the hotel didn't do anything about it. Asked for a wake up call and I had to go downstairs to wake them up! Restaurant too expensive!

My telephone did not work the entire time I was there so I had to go downstairs to let the front desk know that my room did not have a blanket on the bed, there was a pillow case missing from a pillow, the safe would not work, and of course the telephone did not work. That was never fixed. After waiting 30 minutes for someone to check the safe and then another 30 for them to try and figure out what was wrong with it, I finally had to leave as I was late for a meeting. The next day the front desk told me there was an extra charge to use the safe, something that would have been nice to know. The room is pretty spartan and needs some comfortable touches. Staff is pleasant and location is on the beach so that's good and the breakfast was good. They did refund my money when I checked out 2 days early.

Average hotel and good for large tours and groups. Not for businessmen and executives. Very poor breakfast management on both, buffet spread and service. Free Internet service in the lobby does not work.

Beach is great, but everything else?
We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and had enough, and definitely won't come there again. There are three nearby restaurants which were very good, but the food at the hotel was terrible. Especially coffee. Undrinkable. Instant coffee was MUCH better by comparison, and that's saying something. The reception staff was unresponsive and sometimes downright rude. Laundry service is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Fifty reais (30 dollars) for a pair of pants. Sometimes the prices went up to 80 reais per item. At those prices you might as well buy new clothes, rather than wash. The maid service was extremely spotty and inconsistent. Sheets weren't changed unless explicitly asked. On top of everything, the key to the room stopped working almost every day.

The guy at the reception desk could not find our reservation and gave us a hard time (i.e. he wanted to charge us a second time!) before he finally let us go into the room. The room safe was not working and the floor had not been cleaned before! So, the start was bad! On the next day, he had found our reservation. However, no apologies were made. The hotel was ok but the prize seemed to be too high for the service provided. The location, right opposite of the beach, was great, though!

Really enjoyed our stay there
We enjoyed our staying a lot. This hotel is very well located, the front rooms have amazing views and the staff is very polite and responsive. The rate was very good to what the hotel offered. Included breakfast was a feast, with many options (self service) to choose from. The rooms are "no frills" but have all amenities we wanted, and what a view! Overall, we think it was excellent to stay there

Royalty Hotel is was generally speaking a great hotel. Customer service was excellent. Breakfast Buffet was really good. The hotel is located in front of the beach with a great view. The hot tub did not work properly and did not have hot water. Across the street there is a firefighter and lifeguards station with a helipad. Sometimes they have a helicopter taking off and landing throughout the day so it can be a little noisy. They let you do early checking before 200pm but will charge half day using their rates not orbitz. We paid a orbitz one day rate for their half prize. This is really important to keep in mind because most of US airline carriers arrive early in the morning to Rio da Janeiro. In sum, it was a great experience staying in this hotel and I hope to comeback someday again.

Atendimento o pior possível. Segunda vez que fico nesse hotel e o mesmo problema. Achei que na primeira vez foi apenas uma má sorte. Mas vi agora que atendimento ruim é recorrente lá. Café da manhã péssimo. Tudo acaba o tempo todo. Ar condicionado do meu quarto estava estragado. tive que mudar de quarto as 11 da noite e o eletricista que foi lá disse que o problema do ar já existia. A Hoteis.com informa que é possível receber um upgrade de quarto mediante disponibilidade. Mas o hotel se recusa a dar esse upgrade mesmo tendo disponibilidade, por que me ofereceram pagar 300 reais pra entrar no quarto, que no caso estava disponível. (não liberam sem pagar) Não recomendo em nenhum hipótese. Hotel ruim. Toalhas puídas e rasgadas.
