Be prepared a very small room. We had to crawl over our bags to reach the beds. It was nice to have a private shower though. 20 minute walk to the main strip of the city. Good, free breakfast though so if you don't mind the cramped space it isn't awful. Also, bring bed linens. Staff at check-in were not friendly or helpful.

Most bang for your buck in Reykjavik

Posted 02-Sep-2016
Pros: Location, price, friendly staff, free breakfast, wifi and parking.
Cons: Put an optional shower curtain to keep the floor dry.
Location: Lots near by, gas station across wit food, liquor store a block west, grocery store 10 mins away, the Reykjavik sore, and a geothermal pool is nearby.
This place was very nice and I'd say very comparable to a holiday inn in Canada. The staff were very friendly and spoke English well. The room was comfortable, with clean bedding and fresh towels. They had a small fridge, a microwave and a hot water maker. So if you are on a budget, you can get some food by the local grocery store which was about a nice 10 min walk from the hotel. Speaking of food, the hotel had a nice lunch and dinner buffet at a nice price. The breakfast was included with the room, and was on the top floor of the hotel. The view was beautiful and a poetic way to start your day. Also across the hotel was a gas station with a good selection of food, they had a subway and health shake place, which was similar to a boaster juice in Canada. The location was awesome, off the main and just a few hundred feet from the ocean. Everything was walking distance. Only thing I didn't like was the shower. It was half open and half covered, so the floor would get wet.

Meget små værelser. Meget lydt. Meget uro.

Posted 02-Sep-2016

Busy Hotel quite a way from the centre of town

Posted 01-Aug-2016
Pros: Rooms were clean. There was a bar. Wifi was reliable and free.
Cons: Staff competency could be improved. Can't do much to improve rooms that are too small and have no windows. More choices in buffet dinner.
Location: Long walk or bus ride from the city centre. No activities nearby that I was aware of.
My tour of Iceland began at Hotel Cabin so I booked an extra night before the tour began. I booked a windowless room - because it was cheaper, but still not cheap. I only arrived in the evening and checked out the next morning so I really only spent time in the room to sleep. The bed was comfortable but the room was very small. The bathroom sink was a very small 'half' sink and had a broad glass shelf above it which made it almost impossible to use. You had to get your head under the glass shelf! The next night I was in the deluxe section of the hotel with my tour and the room was much bigger there and had a window and a full size sink. The location of the hotel was quite a long walk (though it was a pleasant walk) or a bus ride from the centre of Reykjavik and there were not many eating places close by. The hotel buffet dinner was very plain and over priced. Breakfast was adequate. No fresh juice, just cordial. The hotel is used by many tour groups and school groups and the dining room was really busy and noisy. The staff were a mixed bunch, some surly, some helpful. They struggled to cope with large numbers of tour people and school groups checking in and out. They could not find my first night's booking and tried to tell me I had booked for the same night twice - I hadn't and I had a receipt to show them so then they got a staff member who knew the system and she was pleasant and able to find it.

Tiny and badly maintained

Posted 29-Jul-2016
The room had no space whatsoever. You can't even put your luggage down. The door had been cut wrong and didn't fit the doorframe so there was a gap and you could see out on the hallway through it not to mention the noise that came with having an open door! The doorframe in the bathroom was rotten and there were cracks in the tiles. The staff could not care less.

bus stop close and City Pool

Posted 20-Jul-2016
Pros: Breakfast, Bar, Staff
Cons: Check out procedures
Location: City Bus Stop close, Laugardalslaug 2 blocks away, Zoo close, harbor walk 2 blocks
Cabin Hotel was fine. Provided the basics. Nice friendly atmosphere. Rooms small and Spartan. We were not going to just stay in our room so it was perfect for us. It is close to City Bus stop and a nice big City Pool complex are both in easy walking distance. Close to shore-harbor walk. Not enough room for more than 2 people in our room so extra bed out of question. Price was very good.

CHAMBRE PETITE MAIS PROPRE

Posted 20-Jul-2016
