Good value for a great location

Posted 15-Mar-2018
Hotel is right across the street from the seaside walk into the center of Reykjavik, about a 15 minutes. The viking statue and Harpa are on this walk. The breakfast was very fresh with hot choices. I got there early and there is a place to store your luggage as you explore before check in. You are a five minute walk from the largest outdoor thermal pool which I swam laps in twice. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Nice hotel, not so close from downtown

Posted 11-Mar-2018
It was a great place to stay. We booked a bus that took us straight here form Keflavik. The hotel is close to some restaurants and coffee shops, and it's like a 40 min walk to downtown Reykjavik.

Pros: locatiion. across the street is a convenience store and a sandwich and juice bar.
Cons: not to sure. renovate?
Location: across the street is a convenience store and a sandwich and juice bar.
our room was so small. there was no window or place to store our things. We have 1 luggage. It was so tight in the room the only lugguage we have didnt even fit to be stored in our room the entire stay at the hotel. We had to leave the lugguage in the public storage in the basement (our room was on the 5th floor). Also during the stay, there were lots of loud mouth guests and it was very difficult to relax and be peaceful. they were loud even past midnight

Hi Christina, Thank you for your review and for your stay. We are sorry to hear that hotel Cabin was not what you expected. You are very correct when you say that our standard rooms are small. They are about 10 m2 and we are proud to be able to offer a budget stay in Reykjavík for a reasonable price. You do have the option of booking a Superior room if you prefer a larger room. We would also like to mention that we now have brand new 1000 pocket springs mattresses in all our Superior rooms - the best mattresses for the perfect night's sleep. With that being said, we are pleased to know that you liked our convenient location. The view over the Faxaflói Bay is indeed breathtaking :) We do hope to see you in Iceland again. Good hotel choice.

Pros: We liked everything about this hotel, always difficult when booking accommodation in a foreign city, but would recommend this one for sure.
Cons: Hair dryer and tea making facility in the room.
Location: Right beside the seafront and close to city centre, bus stops right outside to take you there if you don't fancy the 20 minute walk.
Good location with only a 20 minute (winter) walk to city centre. Very friendly and helpful staff, everyone spoke perfect English and were all only pleased to help you with anything. Breakfast was perfect to start your day with such a huge selection of fresh meats, cheeses, salads, breads, porridge, cereals, tea, coffee and juices every morning, ideal to start your day of exploring this very modern city. Rooms were spotless, though a bit small, but served our needs for a short break, would have been better with a hair dryer and tea making facilities, otherwise ideal. Overall a very, clean and comfortable modern city hotel which includes airport drop off and pick ups right outside the main entrance, we went with Grayline and they took care of our bags at both ends, very helpful.

It was decent, clean, friendly staff. However, the walls are very thin that we got a complaint being too loud when we were speaking at conversation level. And likewise, we can hear people as well.

Dear anonymous, It is important to us that our guests get a good night's sleep. Unfortunately there is not a way to guarantee that the neighbors will be the quiet sort. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will forward this matter to the hotel management department and do our best to improve, thank you for letting us know. Terrible staff.

The room is adequate. However the service most certainly isn’t. Requested an airport transfer, was given no information whatsoever and was told a bus would take me to the airport at 5am. Was not told which bus, and when asked in the morning was told “one will come soon.” Wasn’t told that you actually needed to pay for the airport transfer and had to get the bus driver to go in and actually talk to the staff to get the full story. Absolutely awful service, wouldn’t stay again.

Grayline and Flybus offer the transportation from and to the airport. The price for a one way ticket is 3.300 isk (5.900 isk for a ticket with a return transfer). Staff attitude has been looked into - and we always strive to provide a great experience at hotel Cabin. Hope you had a great time in Iceland. Kind regards, Hotel Cabin team

Good view of the hill and water beneath

Room is very small. If your purpose is to sleep and have a bathroom ONLY, this is fine. The shower is tiny though. If you are over 150 lbs, it would be a little too tight. You would easily hit parts of your body or extremities against the walls of the shower. The TV? Wow, it's a 13 in tube TV & very limited channel to watch - only 1 channel is clear. No coffee maker in the room, you can rent one, but no use because there's no place to put it. So don't bother. You can loan a hair dryer for 2k ISK, it will be returned when you return the hair dryer. If you eat like a little bit more than a bird, the breakfast buffet is ok.

Hi Loreta, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review of your recent stay. Our standard rooms are indeed compact, but fully equipped. You do have the option of booking a Superior room if you prefer larger rooms. We have a full description of the rooms on our website. We are sorry if the channels were not working properly. It would have been no problem to ask the reception staff for assistance - they are always happy to help. For your information, we are in the process of replacing all the old TV's with a new flat screens. Hope you otherwise enjoyed you holiday in Iceland and we look forward welcoming you back soon. Happy Holidays! All best, Hotel Cabin team
