"I booked this hotel many weeks in advance for a concert and had confirmation emails. Upon arrival, front desk couldn’t locate my reservation, using all the information possible.
I was then told that they had rooms available, almost $100 more per night than my booking, but that I had to wait until 4pm to try and secure one as a walk-in customer.
I’m sure this is all hotel policy, but it was a little ridiculous as I had all the confirmation details and was on-site. While it would have “only” meant waiting 45 mins, the lack of caring and support from the staff led me to browse other hotels from their lobby and book elsewhere at a slightly lower rate.
I’ve never had this happen before through Expedia, but I wonder if my res was quietly cancelled so the hotel could bump the cost up when they saw how busy the weekend was going to be (a local volleyball tournament and said concert)."
