A True Black Hills Experience
A very clean and well appointed option in the Black Hills. Great view from the back deck and the patio heater came in handy in the evening. Nice to be out in the hills where our dogs could run around and burn off some energy in the mornings and evenings. Easy check in and check out and the hosts were great to work with.

Very nice split level house
This was a very nice split level house nestled among the foot hills of Rapid City SD. Nice view of the surrounding area and secluded from the hustle of the city. Centrally located to just about everything that the Black Hills has to offer. Even though we didn't really get time to socialize much with the owners due to our hectic schedule we had planned, the time we did meet they were very gracious and welcoming. Lots of local wildlife can be seen every evening right outside the back door. Will definitely consider staying here again when we are in the area.

Home Away from Home
We had a wonderful stay! Sherry and Dan were incredible. The day we arrived, Sherry greeted us with a pie. They checked to see if we needed to laundry during our stay and were very friendly! The place was clean and comforable and a wonderful respite after sight-seeing each day. There was wild life to see right out the back porch and a beautiful patio to enjoy the view. Definitely a 5 star stay!! Thank you Dan and Sherry!

Perfection
This place is amazing. Out of town away from the crowds and noise but close enough to the attractions. The cabin is loaded with all the luxuries and was super clean. Comfy bed and a living room that was made for relaxing. We were greeted by some of the wildlife our first night, peacocks, deer, turkeys and even Lou the neighborhood cat. The deck was a nice place to sit and take in the view and see so many stars at night. Was a great week in our home in the hills. If we ever make it back to that area I will book this place. Amazing, amazing, amazing!

Relaxing Respite
This private apt was fantastic and a welcome relief during our very busy vacation. Owners were very friendly. Their apt was emmaculent and very roomy. Nice furnishings. Much better than pics show. In neat, out of city, quiet neighborhood. Comfy beds. Easy drive to most attractions. Many little extras and the cheesecake made for a wonderful stay. Some cute wild turkeys strutted down the street and deer through the yard. Allowing our little dog to stay was also appreciated. I could've lived there. Dan and Sherry do VRBO right. We will try to go back!

Perfect Black Hills Getaway
The property is perfectly located between all the awesome natural attractions the area has to offer and it's close to town also. Awesome views and wildlife in the yard daily. Apartment was super clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The hosts are super friendly and accommodating, their dogs are sweet, and the homemade cheesecake & blueberries were a treat! Wonderful and perfect quiet location
Very easy to communicate! Worked amazing with our car situation when we had a late arrival and had everything situated for our family to just come and sleep that night. The location is the best for hitting any major Black Hills hike, sightsee, etc. Thanks again!

A peaceful and amazing location up in the hills.
This place was located perfectly to access all attractions. I very nice, clean, and comfy place to come back to each night after a busy and fun filled day. Great views, and plenty of wildlife for my daughter and I to enjoy right from the deck. Outstanding hosts! When we make our way back to South Dakota, we plan on booking here again! Absolutely no complaints about this place, we had a wonderful time!

Sherry and Dan are welcoming hosts of this property. Immaculate, spacious, with comfortable beds and pillows. Kitchen has everything needed to cook meals. Extras of butter, non-stick spray, ziplocs, coffee, and homemade cherry cheesecake! Every night had a wildlife parade off of the patio: turkeys, deer, golden eagles, and even a peacock! Quiet, secluded, beautiful space. Close enough to Rapid City and sights of the Black Hills a short drive on hard surface roads through awesome scenery. A+ to Sherry and Dan!

A clean, comfortable home away from home in the Black Hills
We absolutely loved our two-week stay. The home was immaculate and very comfortable. We enjoyed a great view of the sunrise and shady afternoons on the deck, with frequent visits by woodpeckers, deer, wild turkeys, and the occasional peacock. Dan & Sherry were very hospitable, and they took great care of us. We look forward to returning.

Beautiful Views in the Peace & Quiet
We thoroughly enjoyed our cozy stay at this property in the mountains on the outer edges of Rapid City, SD. The place was beautifully appointed with everything we needed and more, and we thoroughly enjoyed the R&R. We were centrally located for Badlands National Park, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. The weather didn't cooperate (cold and surprisingly windy with an unexpected April weather system moving through the northern U.S.) but we still had a fantastic time at the sites, and it was nice to come back to the property for some respite each night. So warm, cozy and comfortable! Our dog loved the stay, too, and especially enjoyed making "friends" with the flock of turkeys that zipped by the property in the early mornings and the deer that graze on the loop.

Great rest spot for people and dog
This was a great place to rest during a long road trip. The kitchen was well equipped (including sharp knives). The neighborhood was great. We were able to walk to a bunch of trails nearby. Our dog loved the place as well.

Relaxing Stay in SD
This stay was so clean, quiet, and relaxing. Dan and Sherry were very kind and happy to give us space or answer questions whenever we had them. It's centrally located to go explore so many areas - Badlands, Black Hills, Reptile Gardens, etc. Being so close to Rapid City also gave us good food options and to do a little grocery shopping to cook. Our dog stayed on Central Time, so it gave me the opportunity to witness amazing sunrises while walking her around the property. We are so thankful for this experience and hope to go back during different times of the year to experience Black Hills and the Badlands in other seasons!

Black Hills Getaway
This place is amazing. The pictures do not do it justice, the area is much bigger than expected. Everything very clean and comfortable. Plenty of fluffy towels, soaps, etc. The bathroom quite large with more than enough counter space. Lots of extras as folks have already said, including a sweet treat which we enjoyed immensely. Owners kind and helpful as much as needed, they actually live upstairs and are around or available by text if you have questions. Fairly centrally located in the hills for sight seeing. Would definitely stay again and will recommend to others.

Spacious, Homey, Quiet and Super Comfortable, with a View
Home in the Hills was perfect for us. We are not interested in "being where the action is" so this quiet, in the hills walk-out basement apartment was perfect! Dan and Sherry were very hospitable and great in guiding us to grocery stores and sightseeing. It's a short 30 minute drive to Custer, Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, and Sturgis. If we're in the Rapid City area in the future, I know where we'll stay! Ps. The welcoming cherry cheesecake in the fridge was delicious!!

We were more than happy with our accommodations! Not only was it serene and peaceful, but it was quiet and exactly what we were hoping for. The owner left us a homemade pie in the refrigerator, bottles of water (which were needed after a long trip) and had everything ready for us when we arrived. We give them 5 stars and an A+ rating! This home was a little off the beaten path, but was close to everything that we wanted to see in the area. The sunrise every morning from our private deck was amazing! Dan and Sherry are wonderful hosts and have gone above and beyond to make you feel at home! Dan’s knowledge of the area and places to go to enjoy scenery were spot on. Wonderful stay at this rental that was away from town but close to everything
Rental was everything that was advertised. The owners were very helpful when I had trouble operating the TV. I can be a little technically challenged. Loved the fact that it was out of town but close to everything. The had some delicious cheesecake waiting for us. We hiked and visited Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial and the Badlands. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location and property
We absolutely loved Dan and Sherry's home. It is a beautiful setting with a great view, clean and spacious. It has everything you need in the bathroom along with a well stocked kitchen. Our son, daughter-in law and 2 young teen grandchildren visit for 3 nights. The kids really enjoyed playing pool. The sunrises were so beautiful from our deck.

Perfect Home for exploring Western South Dakota
We were delighted by this property. It was certainly everything we needed, and more, for a five day trip exploring the Badlands, The Black Hills, and Devil's Tower. Booking was easy and Sherry responded quickly to my initial questions and even provided some feedback about the best places to see stars. Everything in the home was as described. We were especially pleased with how clean and well maintained everything was. Upon arrival, Dan was responsive to our mishap with the lock. In general, we made good use of the pool table, cooking options (crock pot, stove, microwave, and grill were all handy), and comfy places to sit and sleep. The view from the deck was lovely and a great place for a hot cup of coffee. We were even greeted by a flock of turkeys (I think?!) on our final morning. We would certainly recommend this place to our friends and would gladly book again.

Amazing location, off the beaten path but near everything! Too be honest, we left early and came back late, mainly because of all the sites to see in the area! The peacock coming up, the views, everything was fantastic! Thank you for welcoming us into your home!

Great stay
We had a wonderful time exploring South Dakota and this was the perfect place for our family. It gave us space to roam around more than a hotel and is a short drive to Rapid City and nearby attractions. Sherry and Dan were great hosts and the cheesecake was delicious. A True 'Home Away From Home' Property
My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed staying at this location outside of Rapid City. Dan and Sherry were extremely courteous and helpful with anything we needed. The home was fully stocked with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We would love to go back again and stay if we are in the area again. Perfect Location
Perfect location as home base—Central to Custer Park, Mt Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon, etc. Great trailhead near property for dogs to run and exercise. Property was one of the best stocked we’ve ever stayed—paper products, condiments, coffee, etc. provided. Dan and Sherry were great hosts. Would recommend as a great place to stay during your visit to western SD.

You know that feeling you get when you visit a friend and they go the extra mile to show you how happy they are that you came? That is clearly the standard of the appropriately named “Home in the Hills”. As a family with four kids we often choose home rental over hotel stays and this was by far the most welcoming experience we have ever had. The location of Dan and Sherry’s place is also really perfect. We were able to visit Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Badlands, and take a day trip to Devil’s Tower. The drive is absolutely gorgeous! The kids spent their time on the road planning a pool tournament when we got back. Having a place to relax and unwind after adventuring made our trip feel like a vacation. I highly recommend this location and encourage you to reach out to the owners with any questions. Sherry was able to tell us the best parks and the closest trails for the kids. There is more than enough to stay busy right at the house with the flexibility of amazing adventures with a reasonable drive or day trip. PS - Our pups loved it too! There were turkeys and deer in the backyard daily for them to watch and a great little pet hideaway.

Very nice basement with one bedroom and bath and Murphy bed. Centrally located making it easy to see Deadwood and Spearfish Falls as well as Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, and the Badlands! Just avoid the pie you’ll have awaiting if you’re diabetic like me, as it’s too good.
