The home features renovated bathrooms, a wrap-around porch with cafe table for outdoor meals, porch swing, & lounge chairs for 4, stone and ceramic surfaces in Baths & Kitchen. Moments from Whole Foods, Monuts Donuts, Juju Asian Tapas, Harris Teeter, Dales Indian Cuisine, The Federal and more! The Space: The first floor En Suite King Bedroom offers a subway tie soaking tub, skylight & granite double bowl vanity. Living room has stunner designer leather sofa and side chairs, 40" Smart TV with YouTube TV for Cable options, and opens to spacious eat-in kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for your culinary aspirations, and offers drip coffee maker with high quality coffee, Ninja blender/mixer, toaster, electric kettle and more. Full second bath downstairs features a gorgeous granite vanity, granite tile flooring and subway tile bathtub surround. Stairs to second story lead to full bath with subway tile shower, and two bedrooms with double pillow top mattresses. Washer & Dryer upstairs in bath. We supply high quality coffee for your stay with creamer and sugar, filtered water, EV olive oil, Himalayan Salt & Pepper grinders, cookware & serving ware, drip coffee maker, water boiler, toaster, blender & hand mixer. Quality Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash, hand soap & hair dryer in all baths, dish soap, & starter Dishwasher and "free & clear" Laundry detergent mean you can travel light and refresh laundry during your stay. Our linens and cleaning supplies are unscented so those with allergies and sensitivities can breathe easy. This listing is for the primary house, and there is an additional "in law" suite at the back of the house with a separate entrance, also available for rent. You will have sole use of the large covered front porch while the back unit gets use of its own private back porch. Guest Access: You will be staying in the 1400 square foot main house- there is a keypad on the front door so that you can arrive when convenient, and come and go as you please. The driveway is for your use. We also have a back "mother-in-law" suite which has its own separate entrance, and that guest will walk up the driveway to access their unit. The Neighborhood: Historic Walltown is a diverse, mixed income, urban neighborhood with foot traffic. Please do not rent this home if you are not comfortable in a multicultural, urban setting as it will not be a good fit for you. The house is 1.5 blocks from the Duke East Campus walking path. The historic neighborhood is close to Duke's East Campus, 9th Street, Monuts & more! Getting Around: This house has easy access to I-85, NC-147 etc. Uber and Lyft are common in Durham so no worries if you don't have a car! There are also plenty of bus routes, and the neighborhood is walking distance to downtown if you prefer. Other Things to Note: As the home offers two separate units, we do ask guests to be considerate regarding noise, especially before 8am and after 9pm. We have a Smart TV with access to Netflix, your Amazon or Hulu account, and many other apps. We Cut the Cord on Cable, but offer YouTubeTV which functions similar to Cable and offers tons of Live or On Demand Options! Interaction with Guests: We want you to be able to settle into this home as if it was your own. We'll stay out of your way, but we're just a quick message away if you have questions about restaurants, events or the house, or if an unexpected issue arises. They worked, but were loud and the cooler kept cycling and waking me up. I ended up moving downstairs the 2nd night and was very comfortable. The house is on the older side and smelled vaguely of marijuana when I arrived, which wasn't a big deal, but the king bed in the master bedroom definitely needs some attention. The owner sent a lengthy message prior to check in with the details.The toilet/bath area for the master has a smoked glass door, so be aware if you are staying with multiple people and privacy is a concern. There is another bath with a regular door right outside the master, so that helped. And a nice bathroom upstairs as well.The upstairs is cooled with a portable AC unit, and it was quite warm when we arrived late at night. Not sure I’d want to sleep up there in summer. The unit could use a few more towels and silverware/dishes. The water pressure for showers was a bit weak, but the temperature was good and there seemed to be enough hot water. We ended up renting the back space too since my 74 yr old mom decided to come along for Christmas visit. Door dashed some Christmas lights Butler is around the corner from house. The house is older and has some uniqueness too it. The tile floors and updated bathrooms were nice. The gas stove was a nice change to the other Vrbo we have stayed at. Towels were provided in each of the bedrooms, and we had everything there that we needed for the weekend. My group loved the living room, kitchen, and downstairs bedroom/bathrooms. However, the upstairs bedrooms were not quite as nice. The beds were okay, but the floors creaked so loud that they could be heard by every other guest in the other rooms. The upstairs AC window unit was beyond rattly. I slept with earplugs not just because of that, but because of the drag racing that occurred half a block down the street every night of our Thurs-Sun stay between midnight and 2am (not something the owners can help, of course, but something to be aware of). Although the whole house was very tidy, my housemates discovered several roaches in the few days we were there.I'd certainly recommend this house, especially if you just plan to use the downstairs bedroom. If you don't need to turn on the upstairs window AC, I'm sure it would be much quieter. Hopefully the drag racing doesn't happen every single night. Kitchen, Bathrooms and living room were all great. Master bedroom was good other bedrooms - we thought there were queen beds so it was tight.Also it seemed there there was something under the floor of the master bedroom and there were ants in the extra bath on the first floor. On the warm days and even through a thunderstorm we sat on that porch and read and watched the world go by. The kitchen is big with a large refrigerator, dishwasher and table that easily sits 6-7\. The house is charming and for us was easy access to our kids, shopping and great restaurants on 9th street. And this place is clean and well stocked with everything you’ll need for cooking.
