Top Quinta Grande Hotel Reviews

A resort with multiple swimming pools, palm trees, and a view of the ocean.

Porto Mare Hotel, by PortoBay

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

The hotel is situated on a main road (no noise problems though) which gives great links to the main buses in to Funchal, including a courtesy bus from the hotel, and the open top tour buses. The hotel says 4 star but how it isn't a 5 star I will never know! The hotel is home to beautiful gardens, including an orchid garden, making the scenery even more beautiful. Butterflies are always flying around and it just feels like paradise. The hotel is clean and maintained thoroughly everyday, they...

A large, two-story house with a spacious front yard, a swimming pool, and multiple outdoor seating areas.

Quinta Da Casa Branca

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

A tasteful blend of contemporary and traditional buildings, with our superior block room worth the extra money - larger and with a much better quality lounging area outside the patio doors. A nice, personal sized hotel as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. Breakfast was intimate, uncrowded and orders of hot food came in seconds. The gardens are immaculate and there were ample staff everywhere throughout our stay attending both to maintaining the internal and external ambiance....

Enotel Sunset Bay

Ponta do Sol

10/10 Excellent

Had a nice warm welcome followed by a clean, fresh and spacious double-bed room - six comfy nights sleep-lovely mattress support. Buffet breakfast was just the ticket after a quick early morning work out in their 2nd floor gym (Buffet choice: Drinks, Fruits, fried full breakfasts, cold meats, cheese & soft fresh bread, etc). Lounge an afternoon away on the sun rooftop beds (4 pairs) with shaded side-seating for the sun-shy. Just kick back, read a book and relax in peace until the sonic-pleasing...

The Residence Porto Mare, by PortoBay

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

We had a fantastic time here. The room was big and comfortable and the resort was beautifully maintained, with lovely gardens. A great place to relax and unwind. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety, catering for a wide range of dietary requirements. The various restaurants offered decent food and a good option if not wanting to venture out in the evening. The staff were all fantastic throughout. I would definitely recommend this place and would happily stay there again.

Madeira Regency Cliff

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

This is our (myself and my Mum) second time at the hotel and it still manages to take our breath away. We forgot how lovely the area and hotel was. The greatest aspect of arriving is walking into the hotel room and finding the curtains closed. When you open them, all you can see is blue sky, sunshine and the Atlantic Ocean...pure bliss. This year we took advantage of the hotel's cocktail evenings, which were made even better sitting on the veranda in the sun. We were also regulars sunbathing...

Suite Hotel Eden Mar, by PortoBay

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

This was our first time in Funchal, but our choice of hotel was excellent. The suite was of a good size and well supported with equipment for our needs. The balcony was great, and we had a lovely view of the sea. It was a little noisier than we were expecting, but part of that was due to a nearby hotel being renovated. I expect that rooms facing the interior of the hotel would be quieter. The ensuite was very practical and the rooms were cleaned each day to a very high standard. Towels were also...

Pestana Grand Premium Ocean Resort

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

Had two weeks stay. Loved Madeira ....hotel was perfect. Did my research regarding the reviews before booking, and went for the B&B only. Some guest that had paid for HB were not happy with the dinners not much choice and not too good! Not many guest for dinner around 23 people! So might be the reason. Kettle and cups provided in your room Take your own tea and coffee as they only give you, enough for the 1st day.

Melia Madeira Mare

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

We had a very pleasant stay in the Melia last week. The staff were friendly and very helpful Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and there was always a chef on hand to make something if it was not already on offer. The hotel is nicely situated with an indoor and an outdoor pool. These are very well looked after and towels, sunbeds and umbrellas are available. There are plenty of restaurants of a good quality within walking distance of the hotel. Reid's Hotel is also...

BIO Hotel - Hotel Quinta da Serra

Camara de Lobos

10/10 Excellent

The staff are courteous and friendly and helpful. If they were unable to help directly they could always advise where you might get the help you needed. We enjoyed our stay but did find a big disadvantage that as it was 3-4 miles inland from the express way on very difficult roads you didn't want to go into the town after dark. This meant that you ate in the hotel every night. The restaurant menu was very good although it was the same every night so you eventually ran out of choice. After...

A modern indoor pool area with large windows overlooking the ocean, a small waterfall feature, and several lounge chairs with towels.

Vidamar Resort Madeira

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

The Vidamar more than met expectation. We knew the location was good---i.e. walking distance into old town of Funchal -- as we have stayed in this area before. However, the Vidamar, was by far a superior hotel. We were welcomed warmly by staff, and that set the trend for the week. The food was exceptional, with so much to choose from. The main buffet restaurant, was well organised with dishes being refiled continuously, and the other optional restaurants we used were very good too. We...

1905 Zino's Palace

Ponta do Sol

10/10 Excellent

This is a fabulous little hotel. A real gem. Great location, lovely room with balcony & stunning view (we stayed in the Ocean View Suite), delightful & friendly staff (Telma, Nicole & Raquel deserve a special mention), delicious breakfast (& dinner if required) and all spotlessly clean and well maintained. Access to the hotel is typical Madeiran - via a steep & narrow road - & parking can be a bit tricky, but all this adds to the experience. I cannot rate this hotel more highly, and it is...

Enotel Magnólia

Funchal

10/10 Excellent

We stayed at the Quinta do Sol for 7 nights, for our honeymoon. It is a lovely modern hotel, with plenty of lounge areas, both inside and outside the hotel. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly, and there are lots of options to book day trips at the reception to explore the island. We loved that tour people pick us up and drop us off at the hotel, which cuts down our hassle and energies. The "Adults Only" billing for the hotel is accurate - majority of guests were...
