Seascapes, the closest house to the Pancake Rocks, is right beside the beach. Light pours in from windows all around the two-storey home, with a different view from every aspect. Look west and there’s the Tasman Sea, to the south the Pancake Rocks and to the east towering limestone cliffs. The kitchen/living room area on the upper floor is open plan. It has everything you need for whipping up a meal – oven/stove, microwave, toaster, kettle, rice cooker and fridge/freezer. It opens out on to a deck with a barbeque, the ideal spot for watching the sun set over the sea. Look carefully and you might even see the famous green flash. The living area also has a tv with Sky TV, a DVD player and DVDs. Downstairs there’s another deck at garden level. There’s access to the seaside via a garden path. Seascapes has four bedrooms. The main house has a master bedroom with queen bed and another bedroom with twin beds. Fold out beds are also available on request. The garden cottage, tucked alongside the main house, has a double room and another with two single beds which can be made up as a double. All linen and towels are supplied. There’s also a baby cot available on request. The house has two toilets and a bathroom. There’s a washing machine, dryer and free wifi. Many of us hadn't been to Punakaiki before and all love it now. The house is a perfect location with lots of different swimming spots, cave to explore, rivers, beach, pub, cafe, and blowholes all in walking distance. Amazing views of the ocean from the upstairs lounge, private backyard surrounded by bush with native birds, and little pathway to the beach. The house was clean and comfortable. Apart from the obvious gorgeous views of the sea and backdrop of the rocks, the upstairs living area was used to it's fullest with large wide windows to enjoy these views. The separate cottage just beside the main house was perfect for us as it housed a small family with a young baby and gave us all a bit of space.
