Pula is a city packed with ancient Roman history, and its old town is a popular haunt with the culture set. In one day you can visit the Roman Forum, a huge flagstoned piazza, and the 2nd-century BC Temple of Augustus, a stuccoed Roman edifice dedicated to Emperor Augustus. The biggest pull to the city is the Pula Arena, situated just outside the old town. It's the sixth largest Roman amphitheatre in the world, and one of the best preserved.
