"So first I will always book a room with a private bathroom that is a must for us. This property has both options, rooms with private baths and rooms with communal baths. Property also has a communal kitchen which I think is great. Beautiful historic room with upgraded bathrooms. Surrounded by shops, restraints, and breweries. Fun to get a room with a real key!"
Best Western Columbia River Waterfront Hotel Astoria
8/10 Good
"Hotel is perfectly fine. It’s a little dated, and be aware that the sole room sink is outside the bathroom. We enjoyed the location right on the boardwalk and near the pier."
"The river view was nice, and the room was set up in a nice, inviting way. The walls are very thin, and we could hear the people in the rooms on either side of us talking and doing other things. No microwave in the room we were in. Close to lots of great shops and restaurants within walking distance. Parking is OK, free parking on the street is just as convenient at the valet parking, the valet parking offers no additional security for your vehicle. Front desk people super nice. Feels weird to walk by people in the restaurant as you to go up the stairs to the rooms. Would prefer more separation between checking in and guests eating at the restaurant. Thanks for the stay, the bed was very comfortable."
"This hotel is certainly pristine in its layout and location close to the Columbia River. The staff was helpful but not always present at the front desk. The exercise room and the pool areas were top notch!
As for the breakfast area...well, the layout and beauty of the area was of "fine restaurant" quality. The food itself, however, was--at best--mediocre. And the coffee...well, I admit we are "coffee snobs" from Washington State, but still...to have only two coffee offerings--"light roast" and "decaf"--is perhaps a "breakfast blunder." In the morning, nothing "wakes up" a body like "dark roast" coffee. And the coffee should be checked often to make sure the thermos container keeps it hot. After about an hour in the breakfast room, the milquetoast "light roast" coffee was only lukewarm.
Sorry, but the room accommodations and the amenities were wonderful; the free breakfast...not so much."
"It was a very comfortable spacious room with king size bed and view. Breakfast was pretty good. The walls were a little thin so could hear people talking loudly first night and had trouble sleeping, but second night was perfect. Reasonable proximity to Seaside and Canon Beach and easy access to highways. Lots of amenities nearby in Astoria; such a quaint town with a little bit of everything."
