"Motel prices in the area have more than doubled since my stay two years ago, but that can't be helped- folks have discovered Astoria and the Oregon Coast. Our room is nicely updated, although the bathroom fan is too loud. It wakes other sleepers when used at night, perhaps in neighboring rooms (when the light's in, the fan is too). It's really loud. It's a hardship that no staff is present after 10 p.m. Noisy parties go unchecked. Caleb, at the front desk, went out of his way to accommodate a special request. Customer service makes this a fine place to spend your getaway..."

"With only relatively minor issues, the stay was great. It was our first time at this location; we usually stayed at the Red Lion that is now burned down. Cost was pretty close to the same but the place is much better than Red Lion ever was: Same breakfasts, cleaner rooms, somewhat better Internet. The downside in comparison was a smaller pool and a hottub that is currently in the middle of remodel; the jets have to be turned on by staff because it is currently powered by a wet/dry vac. There is also no elevator, so if you want the second floor, you still need to take the stairs. The windows are thicker, meaning a lot less noise. And the staff is excellent, all friendly and very knowledgable of the area. Having graduated from Kelso High School, there are a couple of local laments like the condition of the mall that had just opened the two years I was at Kelso High and the current (hopefully only one more year) closure of the end-of-the-road Mt. St. Helens observatory. Beyond that, my family and I greatly appreciate this place and our stay there in July 2026."

"Stayed here for two nights on a solo business visit. Clatskanie is a very small town, just a couple of restaurants, very pleasant location along the small Clatskanie river, near the Columbia. Building itself is older and a standard sort of two-star motel. My room was recently renovated and had modern, pleasant furnishings in subdued greys, could have been any Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn out there. Clean, no complaints. Everything was as expected: Fridge, microwave, toiletries, even housekeeping between nights, which most places don’t do any more. Bed very firm, which works fine for me. Modern AC unit which worked VERY well, even on a day over 90. Old-style magnetic keycards which were easy to demagnetise (happened twice to me), and didn’t work on exterior doors at all. Breakfast, well, it was there. Open early which is great. Meat-heavy, some kind of casserole, biscuits and gravy, sausage. If you’re not a ham eater, choices were limited to packaged muffins, bagged bread and bagels from walmart, stale cereal. Coffee was adequate and what you’d expect. Customers mostly there for work, lots of work trucks in the parking lot, plenty of space. No kids at all. Signs apologizing for construction, but I didn’t hear any. Associated RV park also quiet. Easy walk to the park and the small downtown area from trails behind the property. Overall, I’d be happy come back if in the area for work and the price was right."

"The staff was helpful and friendly. The room is old, not cleaned to high standards. The AC worked well. There is no coffee pot in the room. The not so good feature is it is close to the freeway and the noise is awful. Also, the pool doesn't work. But for the price, it seems ok."

"Nice proper and clean rooms. Easy check-in. Beds very comfortable. Location a little away from restaurants and the Pier 39 closed at 9 so had to drive back in town. Slightly industrial area but an easy drive to Astoria Column and continuing our trip to Mt. Ranier. Good breakfast options."
