The owner sent an email several days in advance of my stay letting me know the tents had blown away during a storm. I instead stayed in a Zen Cabin (for no extra charge) and it was wonderful! One of my favorite stays in NZ. From arrival to departure we were very impressed with our treatment and the accommodation pod we had booked. There are only cafe facilities at the weekend therefore the need to travel for food and drink was unavoidable but it is only a short drive into Gisborne. The beaches close by are a surfers paradise so would certainly suit the adventurous person, though not myself. A room that has a fridge, microwave jug and toaster but no power? And no one to assist you when you try to query why you are paying for a room that has no power. If that sounds like fun then you can go waste your money at this place. The staff were hospitable. But I felt $130 per night was a lot for a shared facilities cabin. Comfortable bed and cabin however the fan in our room didn’t work which was a little bit of bummer as the weather was scorching during our stay. We were lucky enough that it was quite breezy with the cabin window and door opened up. Only thing we would say requires attention is the kitchen cleanliness.
