Portsmouth is a charming coastal town located in the southeastern part of New Hampshire, USA. It has a rich history dating back to the early colonial era and boasts a unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities.
One of the most notable features of Portsmouth is its beautiful historic district, which is home to numerous 18th-century buildings, including homes, shops, and museums. Visitors can take a stroll along the brick sidewalks and admire the beautiful architecture or visit the Strawbery Banke Museum, which showcases the town`s history through its preserved buildings and exhibits.
Aside from its historical attractions, Portsmouth is also a great place for foodies, with numerous restaurants and cafes offering a wide range of cuisines. Seafood is particularly popular here, with fresh catches of fish, lobster, and clams available at many of the town`s seafood shacks and upscale restaurants.
Portsmouth is also a hub for the arts, with a thriving arts scene that includes galleries, live music venues, and theaters. Visitors can catch a show at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre, browse local artwork at the Nahcotta Gallery, or enjoy a concert at the Music Hall, a beautifully restored 19th-century theater.
Finally, Portsmouth`s location on the coast provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, with beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and boating excursions all easily accessible from the town. Whether you`re looking to relax on the beach, explore the local nature reserves, or take a scenic drive along the coast, Portsmouth has something for everyone.
Overall, Portsmouth is a charming and vibrant town that combines history, culture, and natural beauty to create a unique and enjoyable experience for visitors.
Portsmouth is a walkable town, and many residents and visitors prefer to explore the town on foot. The downtown area is compact, with many attractions, shops, and restaurants within a few blocks of each other. Walking is a great way to take in the town`s charming architecture and bustling atmosphere.
For those who prefer not to walk, Portsmouth also has a few transportation options. The Coast bus system provides public transportation throughout the Seacoast region, including Portsmouth, with regular routes and schedules. There are also taxi services and ride-sharing services available, such as Uber and Lyft.
Biking is also a popular way to get around Portsmouth. The town has several bike rental companies, and there are designated bike lanes and paths throughout the town, making it easy to explore the area on two wheels.
Finally, there is ample parking available throughout Portsmouth, with several public parking garages and lots located in and around the downtown area. This makes it easy for those driving into the town to find a place to park and explore the area on foot.
We do offer an OFF STREET Parking Spot for guests. The parking spot is a 2 min walk down Ceres street towards the salt piles. See directions in photo we send once booked. The Parking spot is $20/per night during your stay. The only overnight parking around is in the garage and it can be up to $40/per night if you find a spot.
The location is around commercial shops and restaurants so you can expect to hear the sounds of people, nightlife. – all the common sounds you`d hear from an active downtown. It`s an old building and you may hear people through the walls while the shops are open during the day.
