Alghero is a gem of a town in Sardinia, surrounded by beautiful nature: sandy beaches, coves and pine forests.. We went there at the end of September and the weather was warm enough to swim, without the crowds. The sun was not scorching, so it was doable to rent bikes and cycle along the hilly but tranquil roads overlooking the sea.
