The property was certainly dated but that gave it some charm. The rooms were spotless and the owners were so friendly. Could see the ocean from our balcony. Easy walk to the pier! Would stay there again in a heartbeat!!
that picture that you see on line is NOT the Moby Dick Motel. Bathrooms soo tiny you cant even take a good shower. Towels we all stained. No shower pressure.
It was great- perfect spot. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. The variety store is so convenient and the sandwiches are delicious. The room was nice - nothing over the top but was comfy and had a great deck overlooking the street. I would def go back!
Stayed here for an Ironman event. Fantastic location! Great price! Very friendly and wonderful staff. The room was clean and tidy, and the experience was overall fantastic!
The room was outdated, but clean. I really liked that the pillows had plastic covers (not the kind that make all the noise) under the pillowcase. Housekeeping was punctual and attentive ensuring our privacy and comfort while keeping our room in tip top shape. If you are a coffee lover please note that there isn’t a coffee machine in the room and the cost of a small cup of coffee in the store is $2. I also feel it’s helpful to point out that check in is done in the convenience store. Paul was very nice and asked for our feedback whenever he got a chance. We took a griddle to cook food on and it didn’t bother him at all, actually sold us some supplies that we forgot to bring (overpriced it was convenient). Overall we had a great stay!
Enjoyed our stay. Paul was very nice and accommodating. The motel is very dated but clean and homey. I will consider this motel when I visit LOB again. Thanks for a pleasing stay, Paul.

Just what we expected! Great location, awesome food right next door and plenty of sand. The room seriously needs an up grade but served us well. We will stay again😊

We wont recommende this place
First we had to pay $30 more as they said it was for internet, wich was not told by you and we wont go there anymore and saw other place with kitchen for $80 dollards less a day. For us we will go elsewhere in the future. We could not get internet from our room, we finally got it the last day before leaving behind hotel
Moby Dick Motel was so clean and far exceeded my expectations. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating! I would definitely stay there again, it's within walking distance to the beach. I would recommend this place to all my family and friends!

Not as bad as I thought..
Staying at a convenience store motel, I had my doubts. Small microwave, fridge, 2 beds, air and a TV... Room was cleaned daily with new towels. Short walk to beach and pier... Nothing to complain about. Could have used a coffee pot and hair dryer, but the store sells food, coffee, beer and ice.. no pool though....

Good location, excellent staff
The staff was amazing, very kind and helpful. Having a store rigjt there was great and their subs are the best. Store clerk and cleaning person wad amazing!!!
I booked the reservation in July and showed up on 7/3 and was told they couldn't "find" the reservation. The response of the staff was "they did to me again". You would think that if you've had an issue with online bookings in the past you wouldn't continue to use that service but that didn't seem to matter to the front desk of the Moby Dick Hotel. Instead of the reserved 2 twin bed room with a kitchenette that was reserved, we were offered a single bed box of a room (mind you we had 2 other people staying with us) with a small college fridge and broken AC. Had to laugh when we were told that the tv shuts off sometimes and you just need to "get up and plug it in again". All this and they also wanted to charge more than the agreed upon price on Expedia.
Mistakes happen and if the staff had done anything to try and appease the situation I wouldn't have written this review. I thought they would have offered a free night in the future or some money towards the more expensive room that we now had to get but no, nothing was offered but a "sorry". We ended up staying at the Aquarius down the street. A little more expensive but well worth it.
Train behind the motel blowing its horn as it passed 2:00 in the morning. One day it rained all day, so it was hot and we decided to watch TV, but the air conditioner was so loud you could not hear the TV. The toilet broke once and it was found that a Christmas tree hook was used to hold it together. I repaired it and then another time if plugged up. Beds were uncomfortable, the screen door fell off several times and the door lock would stick so badly it took two of use to open it. There was no ice and no breakfast. This room needed a complete do over.
My husband Jim & I were very happy & oh my gosh the people were so friendly and made our stay awesome...such friendly people all the away around and us feel like family!
Pros- clean room, right next to beach!!!
Cons- very small view of ocean, train right at back of building goes by several times at all hours of the day and night!!!! Lots of foot and vehicle traffic right outside front windows!!
My husband and I stayed our last night of vacation at the Moby Dick in Old Orchard Beach. This stay was one of our best on the trip! We loved Old Orchard Beach and the Moby Dick was in a great location, the beach access is right across the street with a great restaurant/bar overlooking the ocean. Walking distance to the pier and shops. The hotel was very clean, our room had a balcony and we could see the ocean. Overall, would highly recommend the Moby Dick Motel.
