Beautiful setting, but paper-thin walls made it hard to relax
We booked Woodland Bluff Lodge for a romantic getaway based on the marketing — cozy suite, private balcony, secluded retreat — and the location itself is genuinely lovely. But the soundproofing (or complete lack of it) undermined the experience.
With only three units in the whole lodge, we could hear full conversations from the neighboring room as if there were no wall between us at all. Even more disruptive: the plumbing for the upstairs bathroom runs directly through our bedroom wall, so every flush and every shower came through as a loud, gushing sound. It actually woke me up in the middle of the night.
For a property marketed as an intimate couples’ retreat, this is a significant miss. Privacy — both auditory and otherwise — is kind of the whole point of that pitch, and it wasn’t there. If you’re a light sleeper or you’re hoping for a quiet, private escape, I’d think twice, or at least ask what unit you’re being placed in relative to the plumbing lines.
The location and amenities are nice enough that I wanted to love this place, but the noise issues were hard to ignore.
