Excellent place for holiday. The floor is wooden the reason why there are little bit noise from Neihbour however that’s not a problem. It’s manageable. Overall it’s a nice.

We enjoyed our stay at Karribank. This was despite having booked what we thought was a Cottage we found ourselves in Chalet type accommodation with a mezzanine. Beds were clean and comfortable but the general surrounds weren’t up to scratch. A bedside light would have been useful upstairs rather than having to stand on the bed to try and reach a short pull chord. The heater was at times difficult to light. The Restaurant/Bar (when Open) was adequate but the Bar staff pleasant. Food served in Takeaway containers. A pleasant enough stay in beautiful surrounds but not 4 Star.

A calm, relaxing place with your full privacy. We spent 3 beautiful days in this place and would certainly come back! On a side note, there's no network coverage except for Telstra. There are no air cons, but you won't need them anyways. Love this place!!!

The cabin had a lovely Verandah but there were no fly screens on the French doors. Flyscreen here would be great so that you can open the doors to the outside without worrying about flies and mosquitoes. The kitchen was very basic and I was disappointed because I thought there was an oven. But still managed to cook nice meals. Overall the stay was lovely, we had a great time and love the location.

1. It was very cold and the oil-filled radiator was totallly inadequate for heating up the room. As we were merely handed the key when we arrived and were not shown what was available, we did not find out that there was another heating appliance in the room until the next day. In fact, when the owner came to our room in the evening of the first day the get the TV working on the ABC, we commented how the radiator was totally useless in heating the room, he commented that we should 'cuddle up' to stay warm. Not a very helpful suggestion to a couple of 83-years olds! 2. The kapok quilt is so heavy that any elderly client would have problems turning around in bed. It weighs a ton and belongs in another century. We removed it for the second night and used our travel rug and down clothing items to get a reasonably comfortable sleep.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. I'm also sorry you didn't come and talk to us about any of the issues as we could have helped you while you were here. Like most accommodation venues you were checked in at our reception and advised where your room was. It is very unusual to be taken to a room. You could have requested us to do so at check in if thats what you needed. In regards to your heater as you advised there was a second heater in the room that could have been used. It was easily found and available. The blankets and doona are all very new modern light weight but warm so I am unsure what sort of blankets etc you expect. We don't even know what a kapok quilt is and certainly don't have any. Are you sure it was our venue that had the heavy blankets? I have talked to John who came and helped you turn on your tv to ABC. He advised me it was you who said you need to cuddle up? As John is in his 70s and owns the property I have no need to doubt him. It was also a shame you were adamant you wanted to be seated in the bar/restaurant at 5:30 and demanded your meal be served at 5:30 (having preordered) but didn't arrive and had to be informed your meal was ready as requested.

The Great Southern has had more rain this winter than we have experienced in the last 25 years of being here at Karribank. Once the roads and parking areas are so wet we are not able to do any maintenance on them until it dries out.

Thanks for Staying with us. If there was anything missing in your room that we stated in our listing I'm sure we could have fixed if you had taken the time to ask. We don't advertise room service as we are not a hotel. Unfortunately we have looked being able to have wifi in the rooms and because of our location we are very limited with the services in our area thanks to the governments poor NBN.

We booked because of the cheap price (and because there was a pub 😊). We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the accomodation was. There was a lot of room, each cabin was private and the view was beautiful. It was Fantastic sitting on the porch in the morning with a coffee or the evening with a wine. I highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be back

Well located and good digs. But a bit dated.
The accommodation is really well located in the middle of the Porongurups, with all the necessities for fully self contained. The views from the balcony are fantastic. With that said, the bungalows are quite old and walls are thin so we could hear everything going on next door. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely location and property setting. We got a very reasonable price for a 4 person chalet out the back of the property. We stayed as a couple in the 4 person chalet. It had great views of the porongurups with own bathroom and small kitchenette. It was possible to park right next to the chalet for taking bags in and out. The downside was that each of the chalets in the 4 person chalets has a shared wall with another chalet, so the noise does transfer from one to the other. The other downside was that a couple of the days we stayed there the temperature got up to 38 degrees and it was uncomfortable during that heat to be in the chalet between 1pm-5pm without any air conditioning. There seemed to be 2 of the same chalets as ours with air con, however the rest like ours appeared to have just pedastool fans. Overall it was a pleasant stay. We used the karri on bar (reception/restaurant area) a lot to play board games and have some food and drinks out of the heat. It was a great spot. I would recommend this property, however I would enquire about airconditioning in the summer, as I think the chalet we stayed in was better suited to an autumn/winter or mild spring stay, for comfort.

We loved our stay here. The chalets are simple but comfortable. The location is perfect to explore the local area, and it was great having the bar and restaurant on site for meals and a few drinks without the need to drive! Would definitely recommend and we will be staying here again in the future.

This is a such a hidden gem. Our room was larger than expected and very well appointed. We enjoyed breakfast on our verandah each day. The accommodation is spread over a large area, so nice & quiet. The grounds are lovely and well located within the Porongurups. Karribank is family run & very personable. The bar serves great food and wine. Such a great vibe. Will definitely return.

Dress warm!
This is a lovely property in the middle of the Porongurups however the chalets are quite small and basic so four people would find it more than a little squeezy. Our chalet was very clean, reasonably comfortable and we were grateful for the large gas heater on a very cold night.

We stayed in a 4 person cottage with a separate bedroom downstairs and a queen bed upstairs. It super lovely, the mountain views were amazing. People were so lovely and the whole property was gorgeous and idyllic older style. Please don't expect it to be modern it is not but that's why we chose there, we loved the old character the place had. Everything was functional and we had no problem with anything. The main reception/pub building had gorgeous fire places and they were happy to let us eat food there. Loved our stay and would definitely recommend ❤

Good location and friendly staff. The cabin we had really needs some upgrades. Tv was inoperable; the gas heater was very old and hard to start. The furniture was very basic but the bed was good. Overall, for the price, the room facilities should be a bit better. The bar area and open fire was really good.

Thanks for staying at Karribank. Unfortunately the high wind we had while you stayed had moved your antenna. Once the wind dropped we were able to fix the issue. We always have the gas heaters lit with a pilot light so it's easy to turn on. If you had asked us for help we would have been able to relight this for you.

Loved the peaceful rural setting and the quaintness / romantic room we were in. So quiet. It was lovely. We had a room with a spa however we did not utilise this as it was quite small. It would also have been great to have had a window of sorts in the bathroom from which the beautiful surrounds could be incorporated some more into the accommodation. Host - John was excellent. Very helpful, very friendly and very accommodating. Thanks John!

Rip off
We spent 2 nights in chalet 31 at $150 per night. This accomodation is ultra basic and below the standard of anywhere ive stayed in southern WA. The kitchen was very poorly equipped, there was no bread knife so we had to cut a loaf of bread with a blunt steak knife. There was no egg flip so forget about cooking eggs. The kitchen was so small there wasnt even a single draw. We had to crawl around on the floor to get the cutlery which was in a plastic crate. There was no proper cooktop, just a small freestanding electric oven with 2 rusty electric hotplates attached to the top. Heating was provided by an ancient rusty gas radiator with a worn out fan that made the whole thing vibrate noisily. The heater had to overcome a permanently open vent in the ceiling through which cold air flowed constantly. The bathroom had a tiny dark shower enclosure and only one small shelf to put toiletries. I had to leave my stuff on the floor so my partner could at least put hers somewhere. 2 of the window blinds werent working so I had to fix them. The floorplan was tiny with cheap cane and metal furniture that looked 1970s ish. The only sofa was jammed in a tiny space under the stairs so only one person could sit on it at a time unless you pulled it out into the passageway blocking movement through the living space. The timber floors throughout had weak joists so they creaked at night waking up anybody trying to sleep. The tap water was a rich brown colour from tannin. You be the judge.
