I run a hospitality business, so I thought long and hard before leaving even the slightest negative feedback for this hotel. It still deserved a 4, but could so easily have been a 5.
The location is superb, can’t fault that. Period building, really well presented, superb artwork, great décor, very French in character.
There were however two points that really did take the shine off a £300 plus night stay.
The first was the parking signage. The signs stated “Resident parking only”, the sort of sign you see at a block of flats, no mention of the hotel, so we ended up parking off site. Which left me worrying about my Land Rover all weekend.
The second was the room itself. Pretty nice, TV worked, usual amenities plus a free standing bath and king size plus bed, en-suite shower room, wardrobes, tea, coffee, etc.
The only real problem here is the shower did not work and the shower tray was blocked. So even if I had managed to get some heat out of it, I was in for a short shower or flood the reception below. We reported it, on our way out to dinner reservations. They promised to look into it, and to their credit offered us another room (while we were on our way out). We declined, and said “no problem but you need to sort that”
On check out I again mentioned the shower. Nothing on the system, nothing logged, zip, nada, nowt. The staff were kinda dismissive of the whole situation. I’m sorry, a deluxe room for £300 plus per night and the shower doesn’t work? Really? So you get a 4*
