Hotel was good. Breakfast excellent. Staff helpful especially the late night door man. The only drawback is you have to book with the hotel itself, not through a third party,to have a reserved parking space. There is very limited parking on the surrounding streets.

Dispute Expedia advertising, parking availability is not a guarantee. The staff, however, went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast service was excellent. We were very comfortable in our room.

Since the hotel is 400 years old, it had a lot of charm. (things like slanted floors and the room call bells on the wall in the foyer) The location was perfect for exploring the waterfront and catching ferries. The only issue, which it can’t do anything about, is the lack of an elevator and we stayed on the top floor. The very last flight upstairs was curved and very narrow, but a couple of very friendly staff members helped us with our luggage.

It was a nice hotel in a good location. Staff also nice and helpful. However my single room was TINY. Single bed squeezed in with wall at foot of bed, so my toes touched this when I stretched out. Ensuite was too small to include sink in there, so was in the bedroom. No window but a frosted window emergency door, leading me to think that where the room was was originally a corridor to this emergency exit. Also no towels left in room, which I did not notice until came back in evening when reception no longer managed, so waited until morning to get these. Note that if you can't get one of the few on site parking places then on street parking is about £20 for a day.

Everything about the hotel and staff was perfect. The only thing that we had issue with was the parking arrangements. Our Expedia booking included free parking, but apparently parking is only guaranteed when booking directly with the hotel. Expedia were not transparent about this. Hence, on the first night, we had to park on the street and pay £14.40 for five hours...waiting for an allocated hotel parking space on a first-come, first-served basis to become available.

The room was quite well proportioned and despite being over the public bar was not noisy. Was close to the bus stop which saved us driving into Brighton and trying to find a park. Meals were good and breakfast very generous. Overall good value for money
