Domaine Raixa | Charming vacation home on a historic estate by the water

Raixa is situated in a quiet location right on the Elde River, just a few steps from the harbour and Lake Plau. The historic town centre, bakeries, cafés, and restaurants are all within easy walking distance. It’s a particularly beautiful starting point for relaxing days by the water and tours through the Mecklenburg Lake District.

Raixa is an old urban farmstead featuring a Neoclassical villa and lovingly restored half-timbered houses built of clay. Each unit has its own terrace, an open-concept living and dining area, a fireplace, and plenty of space to unwind.

Our holiday homes are located in the farm’s former servants’ quarters. Clay, wood, and history—carefully preserved and reimagined. Much of it was built by hand by our grandfather. The homes are fully equipped and offer everything you need for a holiday—except for high gloss and perfection. Nothing here is polished. Rather, it’s warm, organic, and authentic.

What makes this place special: The farmstead literally embraces you.

The apartments surround a large, sheltered courtyard. In the centre: an old linden tree.
The houses are arranged around this courtyard. Depending on their location, the terraces get sun in the morning or afternoon. The courtyard is a shared outdoor space and, at the same time, a place of retreat.
Here, everyone finds their own retreat, with their own little house and their own terrace. But there’s also the opportunity to casually socialise here and there.

On the ground floor, the living and dining area with kitchen opens onto the sunny terrace—with a view of the courtyard and the rose garden. Upstairs is the bedroom with a double bed and the bathroom with a shower. At the very top: a loft under the roof with two additional beds.
All the cottages embody the character of the old half-timbered buildings—crooked beams and all.

SUPs and canoes can be launched directly in front of the cottage in the inland harbour and stored in the courtyard. The lake landscape begins right outside the door: Lake Plau, expansive, shallow swimming beaches, forests, meadows, wide paths, and tree-lined avenues. Fishing, swimming, splashing around, paddling, sailing, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, biking, and hiking are all included. Our recommendation: Just go with the flow.

For anyone who wants to explore their creative side, we offer painting and pottery workshops upon request. Paints, paper, brushes, canvases, and clay are all provided. It’s not about perfection here, but about the joy of creating, experimenting, and discovering.

The farm changes along with us. It bears traces of the past and tells stories. Some of these stories are over a hundred years old; others are just beginning.
