"The rooms and hotel is spotless immaculately clean. The beds are comfortable with a safe for storage of valuables. There was an extra single bed to put luggage and clothes on because there are no drawers for storing clothes. And the closet had mix match of clothes hangers not suitable for hanging pants. There are exterior stairs at entrance without handrails posing a tripping hazard. I gripped on a decor plant by the stairs for stability. The breakfast was toast bread and cold cut meats every...

"I think management needs to inform staff to be more informative with guest No one told us how to get beach towels, coffee machine did not work, WI FI no info, basically I feel that staff was very helpful once you asked for items. The issue is most hotels provide basic info upfront and have signage to inform guests. Management needs to be better. I feel that the highlight is the beach and that is the only reason I would go back to this hotel."

Torre Assunta Hotel

8/10 Good

"Beautiful hotel, stayed in the Massera,"

Puglia - Private villa with private pool, close to the sea and olive groves

10/10 Excellent

"From the moment I arrived, the kindness and thoughtfulness of Antonio and Assunta were amazing - thank you for looking after me, your advice and kind offers. The villa itself was in a beautiful and tranquil location, with everything you could need. There was even a roof terrace with a beautiful view down to the sea. The large garden area had lots of different areas to sit outside and enjoy, including a pond and rockery which Antonio had built himself. The seafront and beach at Torre Vado could be reached on foot (about 2km downhill on quiet roads) - a great place to go for a swim, to eat or for a drink. The kitchen was very well-equipped and there was a lovely bowl of fresh fruit and some wine to welcome me. It was a great location from which to explore the coastline - Gallipoli, Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca and only an hour from the beautiful city of Lecce which was well worth a day trip. Some great recommendations for places to eat from Antonio and places to visit.Antonio was always available for help or questions, but was also discreet and careful not to disturb. Very kind hosts and a truly beautiful place to stay for ten days.Grazie mille per tutti !"

Corte dei Francesi

10/10 Excellent

Hotel Fly

8/10 Good

"The location was perfect in my opinion. On the main street right near the bridge to the old town. The old town is too inconvenient and touristy and crowded for an extended stay (I was there for a week), so I was glad to be just outside of it. The hotel could be reached by taxi or tour van and there are many shops and restaurants along this stretch. The hotel has a modern appearance and some comfortable chairs out front, like a front porch, which is a nice touch. On the other hand, there were certain negatives. Although the reception staff was always helpful and cheerful, the rest of the staff was much less so. The woman at breakfast seemed to loom judgingly as I selected my food, as though it were coming out of her salary, and the room cleaners were always a bit annoyed. They were also not very efficient and although they came in the room almost every day, they worked haphazardly. The elevator broke down after 3 or 4 days and was still broken when I left. The shower was cheap plastic and narrower than necessary. The TV only sometimes worked and then very badly."

Agri Hotel Conte Salentino

10/10 Excellent

"We had a very pleasant stay overall. The accommodation was exceptionally clean, towels changed daily, with a spacious room that was comfortable and, great AC. The pool area was lovely and spotless, and the sunsets from the property were beautiful. Loved the tree lined driveway. The location is quite remote, so having a car is essential if you want to explore the area or dine out, as no evening meals are offered on site. Breakfast was good, but it became a little repetitive after a few days. We would also have appreciated a wider selection of vegetables but overall we had a great time."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Pizzo?

The best area to stay in Pizzo is the historic centre, perched atop a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

This charming area is Pizzo's heart, characterised by narrow, winding cobblestone streets that lead to picturesque piazzas. The main square, Piazza della Repubblica, is a central gathering point, famous for its outdoor cafes and the iconic Piedigrotta Church nearby. You'll find many local shops selling traditional crafts and eateries serving local specialities like tartufo di Pizzo.

For couples, the historic centre offers a romantic and convenient base. You can easily stroll hand-in-hand through the atmospheric streets, enjoy sunset views from the belvedere, and dine at intimate restaurants, all within walking distance. The relaxed pace and beautiful surroundings make for a memorable getaway.

Families will also find the historic centre appealing due to its pedestrian-friendly nature and proximity to amenities. Children can enjoy gelato in the main piazza, and the ease of access to local shops and restaurants simplifies meal times.

When is the best time to go to Pizzo?

The best time to visit Pizzo is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September and October) months. These periods offer comfortable weather for exploring without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer season.

Spring in Pizzo sees pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for walking around the historic centre, visiting the Piedigrotta Church, or enjoying a gelato in the Piazza della Repubblica. The countryside is lush and green, and you'll find fewer tourists, allowing for a more relaxed experience. It's a great time for couples who enjoy leisurely strolls and dining al fresco.

Autumn provides similarly agreeable weather, with temperatures often between 18°C and 28°C. The sea is still warm enough for swimming until late September, and the grape harvest season brings local festivals and culinary delights.
