The AC unit was great! The staff are super friendly, respectful and welcoming. Isabella was so sweet and kind when she gave us the tour around the villa and helped us answer any questions we had. Hotel Toural

10/10 Excellent

"Très bien situé, super hôtel. Parking difficile par contre et tapis désuet."

Stay Hotel Guimarães Centro

10/10 Excellent

"Very helpful staff. The air conditioning was not working during a hot period and I received a message warning me and asking me if I wanted a refund but I kept the booking. When I arrived at the hotel the staff were very helpful and offered me a fan and complimentary bottle of cold water. For the price I paid it was far more than I expected. Sometimes it’s just a little customer service which makes a problem much easier to accept! In the end sleeping with window open was completely adequate- I was in Portugal and expecting hot weather."

Eurostars Santa Luzia

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel is incredibly great! We loved staying here. The facilities, staff, room and the service is incredible. Only thing we think could improve is the massage services can always be better, and have more diverse offerings with varied therapist that are more confident. The other thing was that the room service was always great but even tho there was moments we didn’t want anybody in the room they still came in to clean up… Overall it was amazing!!!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Pico?

The best time to go to Pico is during the warmer months, specifically from May to September, to fully enjoy the island's natural beauty and outdoor activities.

May and June offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and the island is lush and green after the spring rains. This is an excellent time for hiking the various trails, including the ascent of Mount Pico itself, as the weather is generally clear and not too hot. It's also a good period for whale and dolphin watching, as many species are active in the waters around Pico.

July and August are the peak summer months, with the warmest weather and calmest seas, making them ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and enjoying the island's natural swimming pools carved into the volcanic rock. The vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are at their most vibrant, and you can enjoy wine tastings and learn about the unique viticulture. This period is superb for couples seeking a relaxing break with plenty of sunshine and opportunities for water-based activities.

September still offers lovely weather, warm seas, and fewer visitors than the peak summer months. It's a fantastic time for those who prefer a quieter experience while still being able to enjoy all the outdoor activities Pico has to offer, from exploring the Gruta das Torres lava cave to coastal walks.
