Take a break from the city and people-watch in the leafy park that borders the piazza’s southeastern side. The Piazza XV Marzo is anchored by the Palazzo del Governo. This historic building has been meticulously restored and returned to its former grandeur. Admire its remarkable structure, which dates back to the 15th century. Enter the building to see its rich period furnishings and collection of artworks. Make your way to the northwestern corner to find the Civic Library (Biblioteca Civica). This beautiful building is a Calabrian treasure, housing manuscripts and other significant documents from the 16th to the 18th century. See what’s on at the Municipal Theatre (Teatro Alfonso Rendano), which dates back to the 1800s and was lovingly rebuilt after World War II bombardment. In the heart of the square, look for a bronze monument dedicated to Bernardino Telesio and the Martyrs of 1844\. The plaza is named for a historic event of the Italian unification on March 15, 1844\. The memorial was erected in 1878 after the uprising mobilised by local Italian revolutionaries, the Bandiera brothers. If you feel like taking a break from your tour of Cosenza’s historic square, visit the public gardens of Villa Vecchina. Relax beneath the park’s leafy trees or sit on one of the park benches. This pretty spot is popular for picnics and serves as a picturesque final destination on many guided and self-guided walking tours of Cosenza’s historic district. Well organised, we fully enjoyed the experience and holiday too, beautiful rooms and amenities. Great authentic Italian food and premium drinks served at all the times, definitely recommend the All-inclusive formula. Live music at evenings and night with local band (bravo and applauses to all the guys of the band!) Marvellous “fritto di Caterina” and beach bar walking distance from the resort. Round of applauses for the kids club organisation “Falky” with everyday different activities entertained by the lovely staff, in particular Lilly, Ilenia and Abril who were absolutely fantastic and attentive towards the little ones! Our child loved the atmosphere and the kids club staff. Amazing staff, from reception to chefs and waiters that effortlessly prepared everything to perfection on daily basis, in both of the main restaurant and in the “Pentolo and Grill”… you must try the outstanding “Paccheri with seafood” Well done also to housekeeping team for the cleaning and organisation of the rooms! (195 reviews) Overall, we had a good experience here. One problem was the shower size. It was very tiny. Maybe 3 ft by 3 ft. Also, it's not a flat walk to the city center. Expect to walk up and down the hill. We're in good physical shape so the walk was not bad at all, but if you need assistance or a wheel chair, this could be a problem.
