not up to scratch

I called the hotel at 10am on the day of my arrival to advise I wouldn't be coming that night (had a booking for 2 nights). Had to leave a message as there was no answer - asked for a call back but no one called me. Had to call again the next day to ensure my room for the 2nd night was still available - finally got through to someone only to have them tell me they got my message and I should have called Expedia (? I assume they meant who I made the booking through). Fine, I get that, but they could have called to tell me that. At least my room was available.
The room had not been cleaned very well as there were what looked like drink splatters on a couple of the walls. There was a big chunk of the sink in the bathroom that had broken off and just glued back on and the tv wasn't working (those ones where you have to turn it on my pressing the program button). Don't stay in room 503, it's right next to the elevator and that's all you can hear (especially with no working tv to drown out the noise).
The staff were friendly enough - especially the ladies in the restaurant.
I stay at this hotel quite often for work (booked through work) and have always been quite happy. However after making this booking personally, I have been rather disappointed.
