We spent a great week at David's property. The place was spotless and well-equipped. It is located about 10 minutes up the Carmi Road. The view was great, especially at sunset. Very quiet. Would stay there again.
Lovely property with room for the whole family. It was nice to have a nice quiet place to relax, just up the mountain from downtown Penticton. After days at the beach and adventures to the wineries in the region, David’s place was the perfect place to call our home base.
House was wonderfully cool after a long day at the beach. The deck was used every day for suppers and enjoying sunsets with the family. We are making plans already to come back next summer
We loved the location! We have stayed in the same home for the last 5 years in a row! The air is fresher up in the hills, the view is fantastic and it’s close to both lakes and beaches!! It’s turned into a family tradition.
Not only was the house beautiful with a great view, comfy beds, and impressive indoor trees, but David was super great! he responded quickly and was great to deal with. One of us left a wallet there and David was quick to offer to get it to us. 10/10 would stay here again and recommend this place to others.
Davis is a very gracious host. The house was very clean, well equiped kitchen, bed where confortable. Since it was summer we spent most of our time on the deck. Spectacular view of the city of Penticton and montains not to mention the sunsets. Very relaxing. 5 star for sure.
This place was perfect for us. It is absolutely beautiful and the layout of the home was great. The location was perfect and the view was incredible.
The only things that I would mention that might be good to know, is that there was a cat (very cute and friendly) and a dog who were there to greet us and hung around quite a bit. Both very sweet and cute, harmless, but the dog did bark at us for a bit (not a big deal we love animals and have a dog ourselves) and the cat wanted inside the house terribly but unfortunately my husband and I are both very allergic to cats.
Other than that it was a great place to stay.
Had a great week with the family at this place. Very spacious home and everything was as advertised. Temperatures were 35+ everyday but the house stayed comfortable being that it is at a pretty high elevation. Perfect set up for a dog as well as there is a very large deck that has gates to keep the pooch from roaming too much. However, our pooch did enjoy the grounds and the visit's from the neighbours dog each morning. Only caution is that internet is spotty as it is a rural service. One will get by for casual needs but if looking to work and need constant internet, have a cell phone hotspot ready to use because the landline service likely won’t stay reliable for longer periods such as conference calling and collaborating on the cloud. Cell hotspot works fine in a pinch though.
There was a significant miscommunication about the sleeping arrangements. We requested 4 separate beds and were told an air mattress could be set up in the “back room” which was a very small laundry/ wood storage room which was not suitable for a sleeping area and would not accommodate the queen air mattress provided. We ended up having to put the air mattress in the living room.
The other three rooms were acceptable. The three bathrooms were fine. The water heater is on a timer which would have been good to know. We would have liked to have a working kettle, can opener, a few more serving bowls, and staples such as storage containers, sugar, coffee. The fridge freezer was full but it was quickly emptied when requested. The deck and view was great and overall we made it work for our family.
We absolutely loved our stay. The property is beautiful - really great space and dog friendly. We loved the patio area. We saw a lot of wildlife up there too which was really cool. David was super accommodating. Would love to stay at this property again - highly recommend.

Our family of 5 adults and 4 dogs stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed it greatly! The property is very clean and very peaceful. Kitchen has everything you will need, and David is very fast at getting back to us with any questions we had. Highly recommend this property!
Very nice home overlooking the city and lake. We arrived late and David had a fire going in the fireplace which was much appreciated. A beautiful view from a well equipped home.
Listing as advertised with respect to the included photos. The view is amazing. It is quite a way up the hill which makes it very quiet, but also means you have to plan your activities a bit. The owner was super-responsive to questions and the pet-friendly aspect was a big bonus.

Would NOT Recommend VRBO 571400
We have been using VRBO at least annually since 2007 and have never had to write a poor review until now. This is the WORST place we have stayed at & the most disinterested VRBO owner. House is poorly built; poorly finished. We were concerned about plumbing & wiring. it was not clean! We spent 2 days cleaning; we had to rewash dishes that had been put away not properly cleaned; we had to rewash all cutlery & the cutlery tray as there was hair, food & dirt in with the cutlery. Many glasses seemed to be permanently discolored & dirty looking. He ignored our concerns regarding the dirty dishes. There was little hot water; we found only 1 upstairs shower that had intermittent & very limited hot water. The kitchen tap provided only warm water & it took a while to get warm. The bathroom sink nearest to the hot water tank had hot water. We advised the Property owner of the lack of hot water - he blamed the "new hot water" tank. although he offered to replace the element, he gave only one time to do this which would have required us to change our plans. He did not offer to fix this "at our convenience". The dishwasher did not work well; the dial had to be manually advanced or it would continue to run and you had to check that the soap dissolved(did not dissolve likely due to lack of hot water). The grounds were poorly kept & are not sutiable for children. the VRBO boasts family friendly but the property is very close to the road where "local traffic" frequently exceeds posted speed limits. The "pond" had dead fish in it and smelled. The deck around the pond feels boggy/saggy and is situated on land that is full of ants, marmot holes & dog poop (the neighboring dogs frequent the property). Overgrown trees obscure the lake view from the deck. We learned that the owner was staying in his 5th wheel right next door (50' away) by noting an extension cord that was plugged into the VRBO house and ran to the 5th wheel. This was not a problem but we wondered why he was not forthcoming about where he was staying in the first place. For the amount charged, we expected much much more. The standards either have to go way up or the price has to come way down. We have stayed at rural accomodations in Penticton before-(for example Crooked Tree) and at Crooked Tree were extremely pampered - it was spotless, tasteful and met our every need- the owners showed a keen interest in ensuring we were comfortable.
We absolutely loved this mountain getaway. We were in Penticton for a wedding and stayed here for one week. After a long day down in town, we all looked so forward to watching the sunset in the cool air back up at the house. Beautiful views. Saw lots of wildlife. It is a bit of a drive up and down the mountain, though, so make sure you're prepared for that. It is well worth it if you like peacefulness and privacy!
A beautiful home and property with fantastic views of the mountains and Okanagon Lake. A bit remote from the city of Penticton but well worth it! Quiet and nestled in nature. Deer, Grouse, Quail, birds, etc. A very clean, comfortable, and well equipped home and perfect for our getaway. Host David was great!
We love coming to stay at David’s place! And we will continue to stay there anytime we are up in this area. The place is very clean and organized and we feel so relaxed up on the hillside, eating our supper on the deck with a beautiful view!
Very nice property, great views in a relaxing rural nature setting.

Disliked: Listing accuracy
Lots of potential, but disappointing
Great private location with nice lake view. House has lots of room and a functional setup. The host David was friendly. Unfortunately our stay ended early as we couldn’t stomach the uninvited guests. The internet access was virtually non-existent, being either unavailable or extremely slow; we weren’t able to work, or watch AppleTV movies or Olympics - a disappointment for the family looking forward to some downtime after the beach. Lots of potential, but a few items need to be dealt with first.
Nice quiet location with wonderful views! The deck is beautiful! The house is spacious and clean. My kids loved seeing all the different wildlife on our drive up to the house daily. We hope to come back next year!
