Carrazeda de Ansiaes

"The hotel is rather small (a very good thing for me!), but the room I had was large and the bathroom too. It was modern and very clean, with A/C. It was called Mallus and had a French door to the street which meant I had to have the blind down all the time for privacy, really the only drawback to it all. The breakfast is very good, fresh, and the manager very kind and dedicated. I highly recommend!"

Vila Gale Douro Vineyards Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Amazing place."

LBV House Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We highly recommend this property!"

Quinta Vale de Lobos Douro

10/10 Excellent

"Fantastic stay for 2 nights in late September. Location is a challenging drive up a mountain, mixed signage. Great staff, lovely room and outstanding view on a clear sunny day. One challenge - breakfast is provided, dinner is not available....we did ask for a cheese platter one evening (the only option) but it was not made for us, not sure why - so we had to drive 15 mins into town in the dark. Overall a fantastic stay but be warned it is not a hotel, it is a quinta (farm) that does not really have much more than a room with a view. For that its amazing."

Five Sabrosa Senses

8/10 Good

"The accommodation is very nice and the views are spectacular. Great pool and sauna. They need to tidy up around the rooms as there are lots of weeds in the pathways. Outside the cabins could do with paving or decking as it’s not great to sit out on the bare soil and rocks. The was a towel on the sun beds that was there for outlet entire stay and should have been taken away. Overall it’s a very nice place but the owners/staff need to make an effort to keep it looking pristine"

Quinta de la Rosa

10/10 Excellent

"This is a fantastic boutique hotel. Our room faced the river and the whole setting is awesome. We loved it"

Quinta de São Luiz - The Vine House

10/10 Excellent

"Our room with a terrace was absolutely beautiful. We loved the stunning views and how peaceful and quiet the property was. The staff was truly amazing and went above and beyond during our stay. When my boyfriend hurt his back, they were incredibly attentive and went out of their way to help us, which we really appreciated. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this hotel to our family and friends. We would love to stay here again!"

Hotel Rural Quinta do Silval

10/10 Excellent

"This was a beautiful Winery to stay. If you need a great place to relax and unwind after a busy travel experience, this is your place. The restaurant was wonderful but getting a glass of wine and sitting out by the pool looking over the duoro Valley was the best. The owners are very kind and accommodating. I highly recommend."

Hotel Mira Corgo

"hotel very elegant , beautiful scenery, lovely pool… this is the only hotel you should go to in Vila Real"

MW Douro Wine & Spa

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Pegarinhos?

The best area to stay in Pegarinhos is within the village centre itself, particularly near the Igreja Matriz de Pegarinhos and the main square. This central area offers a pleasant, traditional Portuguese village experience. You'll find local cafes, a small grocery shop, and the historic church, which is a key landmark. The village is compact and easily walkable, with most accommodations offering a quiet retreat from busier tourist spots. For couples seeking a peaceful escape, staying in the heart of Pegarinhos is ideal. You can enjoy strolls through the village, experience local hospitality, and use it as a base for exploring the Alto Douro Wine Region, which is just a short drive away.

When is the best time to go to Pegarinhos?

The best time to visit Pegarinhos is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region. You'll find comfortable temperatures for hiking in the nearby Serra do Alvão Natural Park or enjoying a leisurely stroll through the vineyards without the intense heat of summer. This is a great time for couples who want to enjoy outdoor activities and the tranquil countryside.Summer (July and August) can be quite hot, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. While this is superb for those who enjoy warm weather and swimming in local rivers or lakes, it might be less comfortable for extensive sightseeing or strenuous outdoor pursuits. Families travelling with children might find the summer months appealing for water-based activities and longer daylight hours.Winter (November to March) in Pegarinhos can be cold and wet, with occasional snowfall, especially in higher elevations. While the landscape can be beautiful under a dusting of snow, many outdoor activities become less accessible.
