We stayed two nights and enjoyed both evening meals which were very good. Unfortunately the bathroom was tiny with the toilet rammed between a radiator and the shower cubical. As I was only staying for one night, the cramped conditions didn't have any negative bearing on my stay. When I walked into the restaurant, I was encouraged by the atmosphere and decor. Regrettably, my positive impression was met by a reality that was less agreeable: the surly barman needed a course in customer service and the food was disappointing. Corn chips from a packed, puff pastry lid to the steak and ale pie that was tasteless and obviously came from someone like Brake Bros. Overcooked soggy vegetables. Nobody checked on my meal and I returned to my room with no contact from the staff. In fairness, breakfast was a different matter.
