Room was cramped with little to no storage; not even a single hook except for one in the bathroom that makes no sense (hanging a towel there means you cannot really open the bathroom door). Room coffee maker was broken and kept overflowing. Rooftop pool was delightful with amazing views, but the concrete tiles rock back and forth as you walk over them leading to a sense of subpar construction masquerading as quality. A fine hotel with EXTREMELY DELICIOUS food (seriously all the food was amazing and much better than expected) but just left the impression that it wants to be nicer than it is.

The Oxford Hotel stands among the finest hospitality environments I have experienced, achieving an articulate harmony between Western vernacular character and modern luxury. What distinguishes the property immediately is the nobility of its circulation: the generous breadth of corridors and the deliberate scale of the stairways bestow an ease of movement virtually extinct in today’s hospitality planning. Completed in 1891, the building highlights how much communal spatial generosity contemporary architecture has sacrificed for compartmentalized privacy. Its public spaces actively cultivate genuine interaction through thoughtful proportion. While the property commands immense praise for its character, an honest appraisal requires acknowledging the realities of nineteenth-century construction. Maintaining an 1891 structure to the antiseptic tolerances of a newly minted tower is practically impossible, which informed a tempered four-star score in maintenance, alongside a minor deduction in amenities for quaint historic quirks like my brief search for the ice machine. Urban connectivity is equally compelling, situated just blocks from Coors Field and Union Station. Accompanied by a convivial breakfast that fostered effortless camaraderie, the Oxford remains an inspiring triumph of authentic design to which I will return repeatedly.
