There's not much as far as bars, restaurants, or cafes in the immediate vacinity. Our only real problem was that the hot water was out the last 2 nights and we were forced to use a somewhat nasty public shower at the gym a few buildings over from the property. We personally don't consider showering in public desirable when paying for lodging, but we had no alternative. The water we did have in the room was EXTREMELY cold which made it unpleasant to wash your hands, dishes, shave, etc. We were also unable to shower the morning we left which kind of stunk (pun intended). When you rent a place you assume it will meet basic health and safety standards, but in our case it did not. We requested a refund for the two nights we were without hot water expecting that the owner would do the right thing, however, we were not credited a dime. We realize that it was not the owner's fault that the hot water heater went out, but we thought that our request was completely fair for everyone. A reputable hotel or resort would NEVER make you pay for a night that you did not have hot water and would probably comp your entire stay. If you are deciding between this place and a comparable property, I would choose the other based on our experience with this owner. The hot water heater was replaced so you likely won't experience any issues with water, but if something unexpected happens during your stay (ie air conditioning, fridge, microwave, stove/oven, washer/dryer, etc) and the issue is not easily fixable, there's a chance you'll be out of luck and this owner may not make it right. Charging full price when a most basic amenity is not available is unethical at best and possibly illegal at worst. Property owners take on risk when renting in exchange for rental income, but sites like VRBO are loosely regulated and as a result the renter takes on risk as well. In the future, we will strongly consider choosing a hotel or resort instead of using a site like this because you know you'll get what you pay for and will be treated fairly in the rare event when something goes wrong.
