We had a lovely time staying at hotel du cygne. It was easy to find from the Metro station and in an incredible location with access to all major Paris landmarks. There was no AC in the room but a very powerful fan so it felt cool and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and always available if you had questions. They spoke in both French and English. We have decided that if you don't want to spend a minimum of $400 Can. per night in Paris, then don't expect much. Upon entering the lobby a horrible smell overtook us. When I asked what it was, we were told it was a sewage leak of some sort. I just hoped that it wasn't in our room (which it was not...thank goodness). The room was very small but it was clean. Unfortunately, it was very noisy as the street was directly below our window. As is usually the case, the pictures on the website are quite misleading. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Hotel du Cygne delivers that, no more, no less - I got a decent small bedroom, reasonably well cleaned with a tiny (I’m 5’7’’ and I kept hitting the walls when showering) bathroom. It’s an old building with lots of carpet so be aware of that if you’re allergic. Breakfast for €8 is not really worth it: stale baguette and croissant with a glass of industrialized juice and some coffee. The free wifi doesn’t work very well.
