If you want to relax, this is the place to go! Beautiful views, good service, nice indoor heated pool. Restaurant on property is good but limited menu. Overall, excellent experience.

It’s quite far away from everything but it’s the heaven in Italy. Very nice and helpful staff. They carry 4 of our 30 kg luggages up to 3 rd floor. Recommend to book with half board. Food here is fantastic. I recommend to order many things and share because all the food here is great and awesome. Steak is very big like 300 g , so beware of the big potion of food if you are Asia. Don’t order side dish if you ordered beef cuz it will come the same thing and you have them double. You will know what I’m taking about when you get there . Room is so comfy and historical. I like here a lot. Too bad that we reach 19:00 at night and leave early morning. I will definitely go back. Highly recommend

Not really as good as described. This property is more Agri tourismo type accommodation and not Hotel. Surprised is is SLH listed.

Awesome experience
Fabulous place on a huge hilly country estate with hundreds of ancient olive trees, vineyards, and 2 very relaxing pools. Views and ambience awesome. Best breakfast in a long time. Very accommodating staff.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful hotel in stunning Italian countryside. Highly recommend this hotel! Lovely meal in the hotel one night, excellent recommendation from the staff for a local Italian restaurant. We were told an indoor pool was opening I think next year that would make it even better.

A six day stay
We selected this hotel with a view of making it a base for exploration of Umbria and Tuscany. It is set in beautiful country side and captures the charm of Umbria. The location is in Panicale county, but some 16 kms from the town. The hotel is to be found after traversing narrow roads and partly on gravel, which may make it a challenge at night. The nearest restaurants are more than 5kms away,which makes the dining options at the hotel important. There are two restaurants, one being open every second night. In the 6 nights we were there the menu did not change and there were no specials. Service was variable, at times attentive and other times less so. The rooms were spacious, though the service was lacking. Only on one evening was bottle water offered, even though we stayed in a suite. The bathroom amenities were somewhat limited and there was an issue with replacing the shower cap and makeup removal pads. It is the absence of these little touches that make the difference for a resort style hotel.

This hotel is just fantastic. This is the second time we have stayed here. The rooms are stunning, the staff are polite and attentive. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely return.

Lovely rural location to explore Umbria
Lovely hotel in a beautiful rural location (need own transport) amongst olive groves and with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful terraces and pools for sunny weather (we had a week of rain and cold unfortunately!) and lots of walking immediately from hotel. Great breakfast buffet each morning, and can eat dinner in hotel restaurant (we felt food was good but expensive, and we wanted to try local Umbrian restaurants).

Character and Charm
If you are looking for modern appointments this is not the place for you. If you are looking for traditional appointments with large rooms with frescoed walls and beautiful views this is the place for you. This was our second visit to Monte Solare and it was even better the second time. It is excellent value for money. Don't be put off by the gravel road near the end of your journey up the mountain. The arrival is worth the bumps. My only quibble relates to the restaurant. Unfortunately the chef has a very heavy hand when it comes to salt. Diners should be allowed to season to their tastes.

Beautiful hotel with stunning pool and warm welcome. Our room was lovely and well equipped. Slightly annoying lights on PIR in bathroom which meant need to dance in shower/ bath to prevent them turning off mid wash but added to entertainment Restaurant was disappointing and expensive- very formal atmosphere, extremely limited menu and c €18 each for very mediocre buffet appetisers and only two choices of main plus steak at €90 for two very off putting. Breakfast very good however and really good restaurants in Panicale are a good alternative do don't let restaurant put you off

A magical place, in the countryside of Umbria, had a spacious room with large bathroom,terrace surrounded by olive trees,20 km from Perugia, a tranquil resort to relax...beautiful restaurant, and the friendliest staff...almost don't want to tell people about it because it is a gem....

Beautiful hotel for a truly relaxing experience.
We had a very relaxing break with delicious food and wine, a good massage and friendly, helpful staff. While it was a luxurious experience, it was not brash, was small and understated. We were able to visit Assisi and Perugia which were within an hour's reach by taxi. We hadn't appreciated how secluded it was and how reliant we would be on a car or taxi to get to almost anywhere else. The hotel's website mentioned a shuttle; that, however, just meant that they were able to arrange a taxi.

Not easy to find, but worth the effort. Stylish Agroturismo hotel with great staff. We stayed in the annexe under the spa and next to the laundry room. Comfortable and spacious but lacked the traditional class of the main house.

Rural luxury
Fabulous hill-top location and the extremely welcoming people. Had splashed out £200 plus for a night at Castello Spaltenna in Chianti the night before but Monte Solare was preferable even though we paid less than £120 a night. Dinner was fine dining without the humourlessness of the Spaltenna, and cheaper, and breakfast under the fig tree on the terrace was wonderful. Room extremely spacious and comfortable. Easily the nicest hotel of the trip and maybe the best ever.

Remote but superb hotel in a beautiful setting
We booked this hotel at the last minute to fill a one night gap in our tour visiting Florence, Perugia and Siena. It was the most expensive we stayed in but it was also the best. Staff were attentive and efficient. We were offered a "free up grade" to a room in the "Limonaia" which was excellent. We did not have time to use all the hotel's facilities and it was a bit too cold to swim in the pool. However, although the location is remote there are great views of the surrounding area. It's well worth doing the short (but fairly strenuous) walk from the hotel to get good views of lake Trasimeno. Fish from the lake appears on the restaurant menu. The restaurant was very good but not cheap. Staff were excellent. There's no real alternative for eating as the nearest town is about 8 or 10 km away. Breakfast was included and was good. This hotel is in a beautiful area. It's well off the beaten track but worth a detour.

Almost perfect in Umbria
The location of this hotel and the skill and attentiveness of the staff and excellent food service would recommend it to any traveler. I was a solo female traveler and for the most part was accomodated well. There was a bit of weirdness the first night I was there when I walked into the diningroom and after an uncomfortable moment with the waitstaff was shown to the empty breakfast room as an alternative to the diningroom. It was quite awful, but when I said I would rather be in the diningroom, I was shown to a table and the service was good, if a bit awkward. Everything else about this hotel was subperb, but it was obvious that a woman visiting alone was not normal. If you are a couple this hotel is outstanding and if you are traveling solo, it's good. The front desk staff were great! It was just the diningroom staff that seemed completely uncomfortable with a solo female guest.

Villa di Monte di Solare - a little bit of heaven
This is a four star hotel that treats you like a five star. From the time you arrive to the time you leave, you are treated as someone truly special. The evening drink where you can mingle with guests outside in the garden is splendid. The views are exceptional. The grounds are immaculate. Walking through the grape vines and olive trees are truly inspiring. I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and roosters way off in the distance. Truly a peace of heaven!

Peaceful refuge in Umbria countryside
After a long trip from Verona, I drove into what can only be described as what parking lots in heaven must look like. That is, you park in an old olive grove. I know - who would have thought that parking lots would make an impression? After that, it was so nice to get to the beautiful room, open the windows and have a gentle breeze come in and listen to the birds out in the surrounding vineyards. The staff were very helpful and gave advice on getting to nearby cities. The lunch at the restaurant was one of the best I had in Italy (and thats saying a lot) - bit pricey, but worth it.

Tudo o que esperávamos da Toscana/Umbria.
Este hotel foi nossa escolha para percorrer a Toscana e Umbria de carro. A estrutura é enorme, como estava frio não aproveitamos tanto mas nos apaixonamos pelo lugar, staff, acomodações, café da manhã e principalmente pelo cenário a nossa volta. Nossa filha chamava a casa onde nosso quarto ficava de "Casa da Branca de Neve". Quartos imensos e bem providos de ar/aquecimento. Frigobar completo, tv, banheiro também espaçoso. Só faltou uma banheira mas o chuveiro é muito bom. O buffet do café da manhã foi o melhor e mais completo de toda nossa viagem pela Itália, com muitas opções quentes e frias, frutas, geleias, pães... Confesso que o acesso pela estrada tortuosa nos assustou um pouco na chegada, mas depois percebemos que é a geografia da região. Não acharíamos um hotel do mesmo padrão mais próximo da estrada principal. E foram dias maravilhosos! Especial grazie a Ana, da recepção que nos indicou o restaurante Lillo Tatini em Panicale na nossa primeira noite. Que refeição! Vitório e família nos receberam com tanto carinho que foi uma das melhores refeições da viagem.
