Resort on a Budget

Posted 20-Feb-2017
I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively around the globe. During my travels I typically stay in facilities that in many cases are not up to....I'll call them "Western standards". My stay at the Swiss-Garden was one notable exception. If you're looking for a place to unplug for a couple and simply unwind the Swiss-Garden is a good option. About it I will say that unless you have access to a car you will be made to take your meals there, which by the way is perfectly fine, but you'll pay a premium for the privilege.

Won't go there ever again although the spa is nice

Posted 06-Feb-2017
There are few bad experience with hotel: 1. There are many flies everywhere, restaurant, pool and even hotel room; 2. Hotel staff gave us room key which the room is already assigned to other residents; 3. Hotel room is rather old.

Run down hotel

The experience was a very huge disappointment. Resort is run down, rooms are old. There are loads of flies everywhere especially the dining area in the restaurant, cafe, pool.

Secluded hotel with nice ocean view

Posted 31-Jan-2017
Stayed on club floor, rooms decent. Paint flaking at some spots. Balcony door warped with rusty hinges, so it sticks. Bidet was the automatic kind, but didn't work. Informed front desk in night of checking in, nothing was done during entire stay. Breakfast buffet menu was very limited. Be prepared for guest that do not line up, rush & push as well as horde food. Similar event for dinner buffet. Wait staff will stand around to chit chat. One waiter cleared the table we sat at but refused to wipe it. Walked around looking busy but doing nothing and passed our table 3 times giving me a blank stare. The restaurant managers/supervisors did a very good job picking up the slack, but I found it peculiar that the managers/supervisors had to work as hard as they did with that many wait staff on hand. Perhaps it was because on the CNY break, perhaps it's just really hard to find good help in Lumut. Front desk staff that I interacted with were very good. Housekeeping and bellhops were also friendly. The Thai restaurant serves a limited menu but very decent food. Prices can be slightly steep for what you get, but discounts are available for swiss garden privilege card holders, which then makes it comparable in price with the buffet dinner, without the associated stress. Nearest dining options are off-site and about 30 mins away. Flies are seasonal, might be good idea to call ahead to check if they anticipate flies during the duration of your stay.

Nice Facilities, great place, bad room.

Posted 09-Jan-2017
Pros: The location, nature, activities and external facilities.
Cons: Definitely the rooms need to be refurbished and they need to have more care with cleaning and maintenance service.
Location: Excellent location very close to Pangkhor Island and Lumut Marine, nice beach and a good variety of water sports activities for whole family.
The Location is amazing, the water sport and child activities are great, awesome pool and overall facilities. The room was very disappointing, with air con leakage, some things were missing like hair drier and hand towel and they put us in a room for people with special needs, so the shower was not the appropriated one for people without special needs.

Hotel seemed understaffed during holiday season

Posted 01-Jan-2017
The room was not ready when I checked in. The room was spacious but lack cleanliness - I found a grape under the bed and the toilet smelled awful. The beach facilities require some maintenance. Also there were flies everywhere.

The pool very large and nice view.

Overall the hotel was good. Forced through a dark and winding road to get to the hotel and too many bumps in the road. The hotel to far from the main road.
