We were told the cleaners would arrive at 4:00 PM, our check-in time. We arrived early and waited outside. The cleaners showed up at 3:57 PM and left by 4:21 PM. Upon entering, we immediately noticed the floors were dirty. There was sand throughout the house, and it was clear the floors had not been properly swept or mopped. Our feet became black from walking around, and several pairs of socks were ruined.
We had purchased groceries before arriving, only to discover the refrigerator did not work. We went six days the whole trip without a refrigerator. Food went to waste. We notified the host, who mentioned the property was closing soon. The home was listed for sale, which made us feel maintenance may not have been a priority.
There were also dead bugs in the window sills and debris under the kitchen bar area. The biggest issue was the bedding. In the master bedroom, the sheets and pillowcases appeared unchanged, with a foul-smelling wet stain on the bedding and blood on the pillowcases. In the bunk room, we found toenail clippings in a bed, and sand was on all the bedding. We had to buy our own sheets and blankets from Walmart.
The door code stopped working on the first day, but the host was responsive and provided access to a backup key. The home itself is nice, but the lack of cleanliness significantly impacted our stay.
