Welcome to Barn on the Bay — your private waterfront base on Turtle Bay, just outside Palacios on the quiet end of the Texas Gulf Coast. The 300-foot lighted pier is the centerpiece: fish for redfish and trout off the pier at sunrise, sit on the end of the pier and watch the sunrises and sunsets. Drop crab traps along the pier, and watch the moon come up over the bay with the pier deck lights glowing after dinner.

WHAT TO BRING
Beach towels (we provide bath and hand towels only), your tackle, your boat if you've got one, and binoculars if birding is on the list. Everything else is here.
BOAT RENTAL
Palacios has one vendor for boat rentals and they will deliver to the house.
THE AREA
Palacios is a working bay town — shrimp boats in the harbor, locally famous Trans Restaurant for fresh Gulf seafood, and a slow pace that does not exist further down the coast. Lighthouse Beach in Port Lavaca and Matagorda Beach are both within an hour for guests who want sand. Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is one hour south and worth the day trip in winter when the whooping cranes are wintering.
PART OF THE FLOAT AWAY VACATIONS FAMILY
We also own three properties on River Road near New Braunfels on the Guadalupe River: Guadalupe Getaway, Guadalupe Breeze, and Jus Chillin. Coast for a few days, then come tube the river for the second half — many of our guests do both trips in the same year.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees. Looking forward to having you on the bay.
