We had a truly wonderful stay at Villa Aroa and would gladly return. From the moment we arrived, Patricia our host greeted us promptly and gave a thoughtful walkthrough of the property, which helped us settle in quickly and feel comfortable using all the amenities. We also appreciated the recommendations for nearby restaurants and markets which made planning our days effortless. The villa itself is absolutely beautiful and was perfectly suited for our family of five. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax, and the layout made it easy to spend quality time together while still having room to unwind individually. One of our favorite parts of the home was the outdoor area. We especially enjoyed spending evenings there as it is a peaceful and inviting space. That said, I would recommend bringing bug spray, as mosquitoes tend to come out around dusk. The pool area is also lovely and well-maintained. Our only suggestion would be to consider heating the pool, as it doesn’t get a great deal of direct sunlight during the day. We visited in mid-March and found the water a bit chilly, especially in the evenings. The kids didn’t mind at all, but as adults, we would have enjoyed a slightly warmer swim, particularly at night.Oyster Pond was a great location on the island. We drove everywhere in around 20-30 minutes. Favorite was Pinel Island; make reservations at Yellow Beach for chairs and arrive before 11 then head to Mama pizza for dinner with stunning views.

2/10 Terrible

Disliked: Check-in, location
Our group left this stay feeling disappointed. While the villa itself is beautiful, our overall experience was overshadowed by several issues and the way we were treated after checkout.During our stay, we experienced poor water pressure, cold water, and ants in the bathrooms. We chose not to make an issue of these inconveniences because we wanted to enjoy our vacation. Before leaving, we followed the checkout instructions we were given by placing the bathroom towels on the bathroom floors, loading the dishwasher, and leaving the property in good condition. We did leave some food in the refrigerator, but nothing in the home was stolen, damaged, or left in an excessive state that would justify additional cleaning charges beyond normal turnover between guests. After checkout, we were contacted in an accusatory and judgmental manner. We were told we had “partied too hard,” despite never hosting a party, and were blamed for a broken glass that was allegedly found inside the dishwasher something we were completely unaware of. The overall tone of the communication made us feel as though we were being treated as dishonest guests rather than being approached respectfully. We understand that vacation rentals require cleaning between guests, but attempting to impose additional cleaning fees over a few food items left in the refrigerator, while overlooking legitimate issues we experienced during our stay, felt unreasonable. Respect goes both ways.
