About this property

Secluded Lakefront Retreat with Art Studio and Stunning Views

  • Set in a secluded and beautiful corner of the Catskills, this lakefront home offers a rare balance of privacy, comfort, thoughtful design, and creative energy. Guests consistently describe their stay as peaceful, inspiring, and deeply restorative — "a place where time slows and the outside world fades away".

The house is filled with original sculptures and artwork by my father, the late artist Dennis Stahl. This is more than a place to stay; it is a unique environment to live in for a while. Many guests mention how meaningful it feels to be surrounded by art, books, and views that invite reflection and creativity.

Every space in the home is designed to feel warm, comfortable, and easy to live in. Large windows frame lake and nature views throughout the house. Guests frequently comment on the exceptional comfort of the beds, the peaceful sounds of nature, and how well they sleep here.

The basement includes a dedicated artist’s studio, a special space guests enjoy creating.

The kitchen is well equipped for relaxed, longer stays, with quality cookware, essential tools, and a comfortable dining area for shared meals. Reliable Wi-Fi and thoughtful details throughout the home make it easy to arrive, settle in, and feel at home right away.

Outside, our secluded property offers a private lake with koi, peaceful woods and trails, a fire pit, BBQ and 2 decks. Guests often say their favorite moments are the simplest ones — quiet mornings, starry nights, and sitting with a book while looking out over the water.

Despite the feeling of total privacy, the location is convenient.

Such a beautiful house and property grounds. Everything was exactly as listed and the host was great with communication! Every question I had was answered promptly but it was mostly me trying to understand the property. I will 100% go back and have already recommended this place to others.

Peaceful Oasis

Family of 5 stayed the weekend and it was perfect. The property is private, amazing sculptures and statues throughout, beautiful art and many books. Special art making table and space with warm notes left by owner inviting guests to make art. Private lake stocked with coi fish and turtles. Adirondack chairs were great for morning reading at the lake. We will rebook and can’t wait to return!

Last minute trip

Do to the passing of my father in law we had to make last minute reservations for a place to stay for five adults. Due to the baseball season in the area two hotel rooms for three nights was close to $2000.00 for three nights. This property accommodated all of us for half the price. The drive was a little bit out of the way, but other than that it was perfect. Very clean and well maintained property. The host was also very gracious.

This is, by far, the best Vrbo unit we have ever stayed in. "Secluded Nature Retreat" is only part of the story. The host is an interior stylist who has created a home that shows off her talents. What isn't advertised is that the home doubles as a gallery for the host's father, a famous local artist who's paintings and sculptures are found around the property and on the walls of the house. If you like art, this truly adds to the immersive experience of staying at the home.If you're looking for a home that is close to a town with nearby amenities, this location isn't for you. But if you're looking for a retreat where the only noises you hear are the geese and the wind blowing the leaves of the trees, with no other houses in sight, this is your kind of place.Inside the well decorated home is everything you need. From the spice cabinet to the plates, bowls and silverware, every pot or pan you need, high end appliances, two decks overlooking the private lake (stocked with Koi) - this truly is a special place. Last, and certainly not least, the host for this house is the owner and it shows. You're not getting a typical Vrbo, you're getting a well cared for family treasure in a beautiful, secluded, part of New York between Oneonta and Cooperstown. Anna was 100% on communication and her online guide helped us navigate the area.We can't wait to come back, next time for a longer stay and family or friends. This home is well designed for up to six people.

Getaway Break

Very clean and as advertised. Owner and property manager were great to work with. It was the home away from home we were looking for. Would use this property again.
