About this property
Facowie Lodge - Grand, Premiere Lodging near Crane Lake, MN
Facowie (pronounced Fa-cow-wee, named after a lost Indian Tribe) Lodge is a wilderness retreat is located just Northwest of Buyck right off the main thoroughfare of Crane Lake Road approximately 5 miles before the town of Crane Lake.
This two-unit home (this unit Grand Lodge, VRBO listing 4553868 and the other unit Loon Lodge, VRBO listing 4544341, can be rented separate or combined for a larger group) is beautifully situated over a small tranquil lake called Kabustasa right across from Echo Lake. It is a very peaceful setting without all of the hustle and bustle of a large resort. The lodge is set up for accommodations for the outdoor enthusiast, family vacations or business retreats.
Both lodges are set up as two bedroom units with one having a larger living area. They are both tastefully decorated in a Northern Minnesota style and nicely furnished with an "up north" theme. They can each easily accommodate up to 4-7 people and an adjoining door can be opened up to accommodate larger groups. The lodge is angled so that is has a full view of the small picturesque lake and has some gorgeous sunsets to the west across the lake.
The area is filled with many outdoor adventures and activities to do. There are many types of adventures that can be found in the area, including hiking, site seeing, boating, blueberry picking, bird watching, wildlife sightings, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling and the list goes on!
Google Earth is a great program that allows you to zoom from the sky to have a bird's eye view of Kabustassa Lake and see the beautiful area surrounding Facowie Lodge. This is a free download software package that allows you to the terrain and all of the lakes. Our Lodge is located right off of a paved highway so it is easily to locate and very accessible.

Beautiful, clean and cozy lodge with all the comforts of home! Communication with David was great. We were so impressed with the condition and comfort of the lodging and had a wonderful stay.
Great place to stay. Snowmobiled for 2 days in the area. Great access to the trail. Great choice of trails including ATV which could be ridden when the main trails were beaten up due to warm weather. Great kitchen, stocked with everything. Lots of room for parking with trailers. Dave the owner answers questions quickly.
Fantastic lodge! Had a little snafu renting through VRBO but David was very responsive and easy to work with. We'll be back.

Perfect location!!!
Everything about this place is perfect for snowmobiling. We had 2 four place trailers, trails right outside the front door, we could gas up not too far away, plenty of space, beautiful cabin. Basically everything you need!!!
The house is spacious, bite, and as-advertised. It’s a duplex, so if someone else is renting the other side, you will hear each other. Would definitely recommend.
We loved our stay at the Facowie Lodge. It was just as cute as it is in the pictures and we felt at home from the moment we walked in. The area around the lodge is beautiful and it was a northwoods getaway to remember for us and our young children. The host was very responsive and extremely helpful. We will look up the Facowie again for our next trip.
One note: It was unseasonably warm when we visited and you have to dig a little to see that though the Facowie Lodge has many amenities, air conditioning isn’t one of them. It won’t be a problem for many people but you should know that going in!
A newer property that is well-kept and clean. Internet speed was decent for the non-outdoorsy group members. Kitchen was well equipped. Bed was comfortable. Good access to lots of trails and lakes. There is a decent restaurant across the road if you don't feel like cooking. Had a great time!
The Facowie Lodge (Both Grand and Loon) are outstanding, beautifully maintained, clean and in a beautiful setting. The Lodge has everything you need to settle in for a a great visit. We spent time visiting the National park, Kettle falls (Via Boat), Echo lake, Vermillian Falls, Crane Lake and a few others.
My Wife and I stayed in Grand and we had family staying in Loon, everybody raved about how beautiful the lodge and surrounding area are. It was nice to explore the area without a lot of traffic, spotty cell service & surrounded by nature. We also enjoyed some great fishing in the area.
The owner David, was a great communicator (Best we have experienced in all of our VRBO trips). The information he sent us prior to the trip helped us a plan a perfect week of relaxation and activities.
We highly recommend this great Lodge and hope to return at some point in the future. Thank you David for helping to make our visit special.
We had a great time at Facowie Lodge. We’d love to come back again. The cabin was clean and in a beautiful setting. It was tranquil and a much needed getaway.
Property was very clean and included everything as stated in the property description. Owner checked in with me the first day and again part way through our five night stay. Kitchen items were everything we needed to cook all meals during our stay. Loved the large bathroom vanity, as it made it easy for multiple people to get ready at once.
We loved the property. Very spacious, clean well stocked and overall we felt like at home. The manager was very attentive and allowed us to turn the heat on before the planned heating season. We appreciated it very much. It was a pleasure to communicate with David. He sent us a lot of information about the area and points of interest. Highly recommend this property for a family getaway.!
You get the North Woods experience at this place. A very peaceful quiet area for hiking and exploring the remote regions of northern Minnesota. A great place for a bonding family vacation away from it all!
Love the open floor plan! Gave us room to spread out . Beautiful setting. Clean and comfortable. We enjoyed nightly camp fires, and sunset views from the deck.
Very clean, very fresh, well appointed. The property has a nice view, great layout and space, very comfortable. Nice cookware and dinnerware. Soaps, towels, etc, readily available, everything you need is here. Very cozy with gas fireplace, good wireless internet. Dog friendly! The area has endless outdoor activities. I would enjoy staying here again.
