Sandpiper Cottage is just steps to the sand with no roads to cross, and offers very reasonable rates. The spacious living area is warm, inviting, and comfortably furnished with two sofas (one is a queen sofa bed), and two chairs. A cozy fireplace adds to the ambiance. It's a great place to kick back after a day in the sun and surf, or after a day of sightseeing. Or, you can walk right out and relax on your patio and enjoy the whitewater ocean view. The kitchen features granite counters, and is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, and blender. The dining area seats 4, plus 3 bar stools at the kitchen bar. You'll find a king size bed and a chair in the bedroom, and the bathroom has a tub/shower combination with designer tile and a granite countertop. As you walk through the staffed secure gate to oceanfront North Coast Village, you are transported to a tropical oasis reminiscent of the Costa Rican Rain Forest. Running streams, waterfalls, lush foliage, and Koi meander through the spacious grounds of this resort-like beachfront condominium complex in Oceanside California. You will notice the crystal clear heated pool and spa, gleaming barbecues, convenient picnic tables, sand rinsing stations to remove the lingering beach. If you need a break from sun and surf, you might enjoy a game of pool, a jog on a treadmill in the newly remodeled exercise gym, a little ping pong, or a sauna. Feeding our giant Koi is a simple pleasure not to be missed during your Oceanside visit. When you venture through the back gates, you find yourself on one of North San Diego County’s finest beaches: broad and flat with volleyball, and great surf breaks - right out back! Beach towels and chairs are provided with the condo. To the north, you can walk or bike to Oceanside’s busy little harbor for a bite to eat or some boating, and to the south, you can venture down the strand to southern California’s longest pier for some fishing (no license needed). North Coast Village is close enough to walk to everything near the beach, so your car can stay in its secure underground parking spot - especially useful when beach parking becomes a premium in the summer. If food is left out or dirty dishes in the sink, the ants will come with a vengeance. It would have been helpful to have written instructions for the use of the television remotes - we couldn't figure out how to watch TV, but luckily that's not our priority when we come to Oceanside! The only feature I found truly inconvenient is that there is no bedroom door, so when someone needs privacy, closing the door in the hallway is the only option but that prevents everyone else from having access to the bathroom and sink area. This place was no exception except I have to mention the fact that the bed was so bad that I could barely sleep for five nights. It seriously needs to be replaced as there are big hollows in it, as well as trenches and plateaus! Very uncomfortable for two people. A few other things need updating including rugs, but the major problem was the bed. Check-in process was great, and as I stated before the location couldn’t be better. ##### Lisa R. Check in was a breeze. Parking was quick and convenient. The condo was great until we went to bed. The mattress was horrible. One side of the bed was completely packed out creating a crevice akin to the Grand Canyon. The mattress needs to be replaced. Depending on which side of the bed you slept on you could be six inches lower or six inches higher than your partner. Aside from the bed, the place was great. The proximity and access to the road was great when packing up to leave. The space was clean and prepared for us to have a great time. The accommodations were perfect for our family of 4 and we would absolutely stay here again. Biggest lesson we learned the first day was to be super clean in the kitchen. If food is left out or dirty dishes in the sink, the ants will come with a vengeance.
