"We stayed at Scandic Luleå for only one night, but had an excellent experience. The hotel has a fantastic family area with three separate rooms: a cinema room, a games room with billiards and table tennis, and a playroom for younger children. Our family room was a little small, but it had a double bed and bunk beds and was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, the staff were extremely friendly, and parking with EV charging was available right next to the hotel. A great and very...

Top Notviken Hotel Reviews

Comfort Hotel Arctic

Comfort Hotel Arctic

10/10 Excellent
"I stayed here twice in October, 2026. In my previous review, I mentioned their having a "fireside nook" - but discovered the nook doesn't actually have a fireplace. However, I had a long wait after checking out and found the lounge and nook quite comfortable anyway! The staff who operate the hotel are like family, and welcomed me into their extended family with friendly conversation over beer."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Notviken?
The best area to stay in Notviken is the central area around the Notviken harbour, offering easy access to amenities and attractions.

This central area is the heart of Notviken, characterised by its proximity to the water and the main commercial street, Hamngatan. Here, you'll find a selection of shops, restaurants, and cafes, with many enjoying views of the harbour. The area is quite walkable, making it easy to explore on foot.

For couples, this area is particularly appealing due to its romantic waterfront setting and the availability of quality dining options. You can enjoy strolls along the harbour, take a boat trip, or simply relax at a waterside cafe. The Notviken Art Gallery is also nearby, great for a cultural outing.

Families will find the central harbour area convenient as well. There are often activities by the water during summer, and the proximity to local eateries means less travel with little ones.
When is the best time to go to Notviken?
The best time to go to Notviken depends on whether you're seeking the summer sun and outdoor activities or a snowy winter wonderland.

For those who enjoy long daylight hours and milder temperatures, the summer months from June to August are ideal. During this period, you can experience the midnight sun, where the sun never fully sets, offering extended opportunities for exploring the natural surroundings. This is superb for active travellers looking to go hiking, fishing, or simply enjoy the landscape.

Alternatively, if you're keen on winter sports and the chance to see the Northern Lights, then December to March is the best time to visit. Notviken transforms into a snowy paradise, with opportunities for cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowshoeing.
